Too bad Doc wasn't calling the game, it would have been "Crosby, DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVES to the ice to draw penalty". What a joke of a penalty called and the Isles lose on the PK. I would be reallllllly pissed if I were an Islanders fan.

The officiating and front office of the NHL really need to get their act together when they call penalties and issue suspensions. That said, Abby made a real bone headed play and he deserves to get suspended (in fairness with all the other hits just like it). I hate it, I hate admitting it, but that was a major screw up on his part.

I mean, Abby left his feet and his elbow made contact. You can't do that or get away with that anymore because the NHL is going soft. That hit reminds me of Torres's hit on Hossa. Oh well, enjoy the next game or few off Abby and put us in a further bind by going down a player we needed.

It's crappy, and its inconsistent. It is pretty clear to me the refs don't call the game as fair and consistently as they should and can. This is not just limited to the Wings; it's a league wide issue. Now look at the NHL's rulings on hits and how god awful and completely full of crap they are. You can't have any type of physical response to any of the cheap or dirty stuff that goes on without risking suspension (depending on your jersey and other irrelevant factors). I really think the officiating + NHL rulings forms a really negative effect on the game in terms of the playing style and culture, and honestly I feel it exposes or creates the illusion of the league's bias towards teams/players. The lack of uniformity is devastating.

At this rate the NHL should just make players wear tin foil hats and bras when they play next season.

C'mon guys. If we win this thing in OT it will be a knife in the Ducks side. That can change the momentum in Detroit's favor heading back home.

It looked like he dropped his shoulder to lean into the hit as if he was trying to connect with Eller's chest. At least it did to me. I think it is clean, just really bad because of all the blood from having his head hit the ice.

Our roster and team play has seriously degraded since 09. It has been apparent and hopefully now it is realized. Howard can play good but I wish he could play better in the playoffs, not that he would have single handedly won us this series. As many of you guys have spoken, it seems like this team just doesn't play like it used to and that's a serious problem. It's time to consider the future of our defensive core if Lids does hang up the skates as well as retooling our offense. We do need to shake it up and realize the some players just aren't cutting it. Also it sends a message about what the expectations are of this team... I don't like how comfortable some players have become with a lack of production and how mediocre play is acceptable on this team. TL;DR : just another post agreeing that changes need to happen to boost this teams roster and its on ice play/attitude.

Exactly how I feel. Sure he hasn't won the Cup so people will pull the credentials card, but give him some credit for speaking his mind; that's why Versus hired him. Some former players may be too much of a class act or complete popularity morons to say anything worthwhile. JR seems to be neither and makes some comments that are entertaining.

I wish we could have signed him for less, but we need him. He's had some bad moments in some big games that hurts his team (even in the Olympics). As long as he has a good/strong defensive partner I think its ok. At the end of the day we need him on this team. Now Big E is not looking as good as I would have hoped. He has some good games but I feel he hasn't turned out as we hoped. And Helm blew his coverage on the 3rd goal last night.

The issue is the will the Caps choke? The Lightning will be a good opponent but they will pounce if the Caps pull a Pens.
