WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 2 OT (CHI wins series, 4-3)

Not too many people think we can win. I admit, I am scared too. That said, let's show them what it means to face the Detroit Red Wings in the playoffs. Come out with everything and bury them.

    Proud of our boys

Let's be real honest here. The Wings are not the best team on paper right now but they are definitely making much better teams work for it and play on a whole different when their backs are against the wall. If****** love that s***. I like it that this team will work as hard as it can and will itself to make it this far. They have come real far and it makes me really excited for next season. If we go out tomorrow night I won't be very upset, but I know it will leave the question of,"if we did win how much further could we go?" going throughout Red Wing Nation. The Hawks are a good team, I am just happy we can settle the final divisional rival bout with an epic Game 7.

WCSF Game 5 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (DET leads series 3-2)

Terrible game. Terrible broadcasting. I knew something like this would happen.... I don't think the Hawks could or would go down in 4 straight losses. I had no problem losing this game, as I thought Game 4 would be the one where the Hawks would come up with the win. The good news is we can close them out on home ice in Game 6.

ECSF : (7) Ottawa Senators vs (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

I get where you are coming from, that being up in a series like this doesn't mean a team has it easy so far. I agree it isn't as simple. The Isle's took advantage of shaky goal tending and a lazy Pens team that was relying on Crosby to do the work for them. They were slow but once they got going they chewed up the Islanders. Nabokov was terrible when he should not have been and teams somehow don't know how to defend against Pittsburgh's offensive play style. If the Isle's could have found another level they might have forced Game 7 and potentially risk upsetting the Pens, but they did not. We are definitely being tested by the Blackhawks, but this is my opinion. They have a good team that can strike when we make mistakes. We won a very close game in Game 4 that was not our best game of the series by essentially hanging on to a 1 goal lead for half of the game. The Wings have a very bad record when they do not score 3 or more goals, but look how we shut them down at critical moments of the game (PK, last several minutes of the 3rd). Wings are being tested and we are coming up with some big answers to Chicago's game because we can take it to another level. We have finally broken through on the PP and have shutout a team that has not been shutout at all this season or playoffs.

Pens look good because they haven't been tested and faced a worthy opponent yet. The Bruins-Pens ECF would leave me thinking it would be a slobber-knocker of a series.

    Octopus Toss Suggestions/Advice GAME 4

Yeah. The last two pi that were thrown didn't appear to be boiled as they left 2 stains on the ice. Saw a few of them get tossed which made my night.
  7. Went to the game last night. Wow..... The crowd definitely had its lulls, but it got loud at times.... I was super nervous the Hawks would pounce on a mistake and tie the game/score but it never happened and we shut them down big time in the last few minutes of the 3rd. We lucked out with Jimmy being a beast. We have to play much better to put the Hawks away in Game 5.
  8. Gonna be at the game tonight. Let's ******* open a can-o-whoopass on the Hawks.
  9. Found this linked on Facebook. These guys deserve major props. http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2013/5/21/4353314/forget-pierre-between-the-glass-behind-the-glass-is-where-its-at
  10. If we win this series against the Hawks, it will be because Babs outcoached Quenneville. Babs has pushed our guys to be able to answer the Hawks and beat them twice, and if he keeps it up I think we can topple the Hawks and win this series. It is scary to see how everyone has responded, and also how Zetterberg has stepped up to lead this team. This playoff run has far exceeded my expectations, but Babs is a prime reason for it. And to think he was passed up for the Jack Adams award... tsk tsk.
  11. Huge game. We went toe to toe with them and came up big. I agree with the Franzen call, etc, etc. Game 4 is gonna be huge. We have to keep this up and really put them against the ropes by going up 3-1. We need to have that killer instinct.

WCSF - (6) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Los Angeles Kings

The Sharks have gotten so many gift PPs over the years, now 1 bad call goes against them and results in them losing the game. Sounds a little bit like justice. I hope more bad calls continue and the Sharks go down in flames in front of their own fans in Game 3 and 4. Then the Sharks fan will understand what it is like to be a Wings fan in 2010.

WCSF - (6) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Los Angeles Kings

LA has just been unfazed by everything the Sharks have done so far. This is scary.

ECSF - (6) New York Rangers vs. (4) Boston Bruins

I kinda hope Lundqvist heats up and goes beast mode, so Rangers in 6.

NHL penalties/suspensions for hits getting out of hand.

Just saw Pyatt's hit on Bergeron. I don't want this turning into the "drop your head to draw a penalty/suspension" league. You gotta keep your head up, but some of these hits that have resulted in penalties/suspensions are just because the player who got hit didn't keep his head up. That's one of the first lessons you learn when playing in a league that allows full on checking.

NHL penalties/suspensions for hits getting out of hand.

Torres suspended the rest of the series. How the f*** is that fair considering he was suspended 25 games for hit against Hossa last year? The Coyotes sorely missed him for the remainder of the playoffs but now that he is a Shark it is only up to 6 games? Both hits don't look to be that different, and Torres is a repeat offender. Player injury should not play a direct role in the length of suspension, but how is this consistent? Great job NHL.

Why is Cleary still on the team?

I think its perfectly logical to not resign Cleary next year. We need to focus on getting younger players in the lineup to let them develop into NHL stars while clearing cap space to be able to keep the players we want and bring in outside help. Its a business, and there has been an exodus of long time Red Wings from Cup winning eras over the past few years. It sucks how some of them have gone out, but it is how it is. Having bad feelings about it should not cause you to compromise going about the best way to focus on the now and the future. Cleary should not be exempt from this, despite how much it might suck to treat a player who has given us as much as he has over his career.

NHL penalties/suspensions for hits getting out of hand.

Yeah. That hit by Shaw is what the league should be trying to eliminate. There have been equally severe hits that have resulted in suspension. The league is going to turn into a joke if they don't do something about this.

WCSF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (CHI leads series 1-0)

The Leafs let up and were in a feel good state before the game ended. The Bruins smelled it like a shark smells blood in the water and devoured them, then the Bruins ended the game. I would love to see something truly amazing like this, maybe we will. But we sure as hell won't see that if we play without heart, guts, and drive. Some players on Boston woke up and then got everyone in on it -- they had the guts to believe they could still win and had the heart keep fighting.

WCSF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Blackhawks 4, (CHI leads series 1-0)

Smith looked better as the game went on but he just is always on the wrong side of plays that turn into a goal against. He made a good defensive play on the 2 on 1. I think we will have to stomach him more. Cleary could have changed the outcome of this game on both sides of the puck. He should sit. I don't care what role he plays or how big his heart is. He flat out screwed up and costed us. He is a "veteran" and should understand sometimes the game can come down to how well 1 player plays in a game. He probably remembers that now. Absolute garbage. Howard has been playing some of his best so far. Our D has not given him enough support. We flat out sucked. Disgusting. We need to make major adjustments. This might as well have been a blowout considering how 1 sided the majority of this game was. It is good to see the suck ass reffing hasn't gone anywhere with a lot of noncalls on some obvious penalties and offsides. I know I'm crying about it but wow it can be sickening at times. Get your sh!t together Red Wings, find your skates, sticks, balls, and heart and come back to play hockey. We can make this series a battle.

It is a part of our game plan. Play dead in game 1. Then make it a series by taking game 2.

I am amazed this game is tied. We gotta battle really hard in the 3rd. This game is winnable and we should strike now to take game 1 and really set the tone for this series.
