That's a better risk than your suggestion of "release him" because you have to buy his contract out, and then we would have to pay 1/3 of 2 times his remaining years.
-
Lilja participated in full practice last week, I don't see why he would still be on LTIR in October. You are correct that Leino is a UFA and will more than likely take a roster spot because, more than likely, we will have to lose more than one player. Abdelkader does not have to clear waivers and you're right that he will start in Grand Rapids, barring injuries and an extremely impressive camp.
-
He only played 15 games with the Wings, I don't think that's enough time to decide whether or not he was a bust. Especially when the majority of the games he played with the Wings were after a knee injury.
-
When does it say anything about a definite number?
-
X-rays showed there was no broken bones, but that was last week, and he still hasn't returned. I wouldn't be so sure he'll play. Not that I'm counting him out, I'm just not sure he's ready yet.

He said "Don't be surprised if you see him back in game 3"

http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=200...12&fr=false That video has all of the goals, so you'll see the play. A good replay right before the 5 minute mark.

If Hossa is re-signed, it will be alot cheaper than 7.5 million. I promise you that.
-
First of all, Conklin makes 750K, Howard makes 716K. Kopecky makes 500K this year. If they release Lilja you have to buy-out his contract so it would be virtually pointless. And if you're arguing that Lebda is better than Lilja... I won't even start.
-
Im not trying to blast you but Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Hossa would only play together is we pull our goalie and have 6 skaters. Also, McCollum is years away from being on this team. If we don't sign another goalie this off-season and Howard is our back-up, the third goalie will more than likely be Laarson.

If I had to guess I would say he is being sarcastic. Don't worry about it even if he isn't. Anyways, thanks Matt and the rest of the Mods. I don't know what I'd do without the site.

Maltby is 35 right now. He signed his currrent contract in May of 2007, therefore, if he retires his salary would not count against the cap. You are correct, however, that if Draper were to retire, his salary would count against the cap.
-
Swaping Chelios, Draper, and Maltby for Abdelkader, Helm, and Leino gives us almost exactly 1 million in cap room. The cap will probably go down at least a million so that space is virtually unuseable. And that's assuming Leino re-signs at his current rate of 875K.
-
There is no chance. More than likely the cap will go down and we couldn't sign all 3 even if the cap stayed the same.

Kenny's philosophy: -
Exactly, Hiller's rebound control was the biggest knock on him if I remember correctly.
-
Agreed. Bylsma is a class act, virtually the exact opposite of Therrien. His pressers from last year were brutal.
-
Each team has one C and two A's dressed per game. For us Lidstrom always has the C and then Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Draper rotate. So every third game you will see one of those three without an A.

SCF GAME 1 GDT: Penguins 1 at Red Wings 3

Sure seems like it. Golden Boy -
It's not all hype, they're obviously great players but as cliche as this sounds, the Western Conference has supperior defense.
-
Give Holmstrom the C. No but really, I think it's more likely a vetran guy like Rafalski or Kronwall gets the 2nd A but you never know who leads in the locker room and what not.

He also took the money from Versus over the exposure ESPN offers.

Who did you trade 'em for?
