Backstrom's cap number is only 3.1 million. So if we are unloading a 2.5-3.5 million dollar salary, we will have plenty of room.

I seem to remember something about the reason he didn't want to be there wasn't because of the players and it wasn't because of the GM, so what does that leave? I'll have to search for a source.

There is no way he will make over 5 million with the Wings. I doubt he will make over 4 million.
