Pens werent going to win this game. The NHL heavily favors the Canadian teams. I can't even watch this game. All the b.s. calls. All the b.s. no calls. Yes, Pittsburgh is playing horrible defense..offense..but, the refs are doing a good job at burying another American team. I'm surprised with the NHL loving Crosby so much..and only selling the game through one player..that his goal was disallowed..and for what reason? It just makes you wonder when they call Toronto to review the plays how much they really watch the replays. Also, 2 main calls stuck out in my mind. One off a faceoff in mid second period, at the dot closest to the bottom of the screen nearest to Ottawa's zone..Malkin was completely mauled down right in front of the ref and not even thought about making a call. Next, early third when the showed Ryan Whitney injured. The Ottawa guy completely kicked Whitney's feet out from under him. Didn't have the puck..and also right in front of the ref. Another notice, even though this game is one sided...this is exciting hockey. Tons of hitting, fast paced, and a loud crowd. Thats hockey.

Even if we do lose in the first round...How is this Osgood's fault? He's the backup. If were classless fans, at least we know a little about hockey..I'd rather be smart and classless than Classy and ignorant/stupid.

how many people think that Zetterberg is done for the year? ...playoffs included..? Hate to say it...but,
-
It's not that simple. It's not a miracle worker..just eases the pain for a short period of time. But, it also wouldn't keep him out for 7 weeks..unless he had a small surgery that has been fabulously covered up. It's his back...and I have the bad feeling that he may miss the playoffs..and/or have surgery in the offseason

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. Datsyuk is the most creative player in the NHL. His moves are insane..you cannot predict what he's going to do to make the opposing player look stupid. When You think he has no more room, he'll dangle and make room. When theres no openings, he'll make one..When theres no room to pass..He'll put in through the smallest of holes to his teammate. Now, If Joe Thorton was quicker, and more agile, I'd say he's the most creative.. If Datsyuk scores one playoff goal this year..I say give him 5.5 mil. I wouldn't go higher than 6. Now the only problem we might face in the future..is Zetterberg. He's going to want top dollar as well for being the one of the best players in the NHL. He's also more consistent and more versitile than Datsyuk..and He has 9 playoff goals..in 3 years. Datsyuk hasn't put one in for three years while having a third of Zetterberg's amount in twice as many games. And Zetterberg being my favorite player...I hope we can afford them both although I doubt Z will be as greedy and headstrong as Datsyuk and his agent.

Little snippet at the bottom of a DetNews article about Lebda being out tonight, Says Zetterberg still doesn't know if he'll be back for the start of the playoffs.

Yep, this is my first season watching hockey. I guess we have different views of toughness. FEdoruk... ....and I do know a little bit about fighting, I'm actully a trained and certified boxing instructer in the Detroit area. Fedoruk has balls, guts..I'll give him that. "It takes a real fighter a few punches to the noggin before attacking" "A true fighter can take more punches than deliever" "Squaring up doesn't show toughness, it shows balls. Taking a couple knocks to the chin and keep battling, now thats toughness"
-
He'll be in the lineup next season. Holland has stated this a few times in freep articles. He's not better than Ovechkin, he's smaller, but is as strong as an ox. He's qucik..although lost some quickness, speed and agility to the accident. Jim Nill on RWC.com said their confident he can regain that though. He'll be a solid addition to the lineup next year.

I actully know quite a bit about fighting. He also got floored by Boogard. I think he's more stupid than tough. Yes, give him credit that he goes out and fights, but when you get your face caved in, then knocked out again a month later..He should at least lay low for a while. Now he's proposed the use of padded gloves for fighters, UFC style. C'mon, any guy that proposes padded gloves to reduce injury is rediculous. I understand what he's trying to do..but s***, hockey is a dangerous game. It's not supposed to have padded boards, and cushioned glass. If your scared of getting hurt while you fight, don't fight. Also, theres only about 15-20 true heavyweights in the NHL now...probobly less than that.

Just a quick question... The regular season officially ends next sunday (April 8th). I can't remember from past years, how much time off between the reg. season on playoffs is there. Isn't it about 2-3 days..or more? So are we looking at a Tuesday (April 10th) start for Detroit? Thanks.
-
Just because they have size, doesn't mean their tough, (i.e. Lang, Lilja,)let alone the toughest ever...and just because they fight alot, doesn't mean their tough either..(i.e. Todd Fedoruk). Sure, they may be the biggest team in history, but certainly not the toughest. This era of hockey is no where near old time hockey in the toughness department. We have a scarce amount of true fighters, and an abundance cheapshot artists and actors, jersey grabbers (Tootoo, Avery). Theres more to toughness than just getting into alot of fights.

Reports and Interviews say probobly not this week. He took part in his first team skate on monday. He is said to be looking pretty good..But, he, nor the team, want to rush anything. Probobly will play in either the final 2-3 games...or possibly game 1. Look in the Detroit Free Press articles. Theres always little sidenotes about him.

These very well may be the worst announcers I've ever seen/heard. They don't call the damn game. They spent 5 minutes talking about how they love Anaheim and their "future on one line" ...then turn around and rag on Hasek. They need to shut the hell up and call the damn game. I would hate to be someone who doesn't know much about hockey, they would have absolutely no idea whats going on and whos who on the ice. This is like a hockey talk radio show that just happens to have a hockey game in play under them. And they keep throwing in *** little sayings, "Datsyuk must have a good stick in his hands" ...shut the hell up. God I hate Verses. Also, Samuelsson is proving that he does not belong in the line-up, but in all honesty, you wouldn't know which one Samuelsson is because the announcers are blabing about some bulls*** that nobody cares about.

What do we think about Bertuzzi replacing Holmstrom on the ZDH line?
CMatt89 replied to sean's topic in General
I would like to see Bertuzzi - Datsyuk - Franzen, Holmstrom - Zetterberg - Sammy/Calder, Maltby-Draper-Cleary, Flip - Lang - Hudler.. Samuelsson..sp? would be the odd man out. Bertuzzi and Datsyuk are a great tandem. Bertuzzi is exactly what Datsyuk needs. Those lines right there could do some damage. -
Now, I'm a big State fan. But, how can anyone not like JMFJ. He's great. I would like him to be on my team anyday of the week.

they said he wont play thursday. They don't practice Wed. and Babcock wants to get another team practice with him. Babcock said saturday is his return date against St. Louis. It's in the Free Press, and on TSN.

If they win the cup, people will be suspicious towards the fact that the only player the NHL is promoting, won the Stanley Cup at the age of 19, with a mediocre team. Predetermined?. .... Yes, their offense is sick, but, their defense is lacking along with Mr. Iconsistency in net. If they do win, I think it will help the NHL, only because Crosby is the NHL's only known star to people who don't pay much attention to the sport. Now, in reality, they could make a nice run. I don't think they have what it takes to win. Although, their young, fast, and full of energy..they'll burn out due to the grind of the seven game series...due to the fact that their young, and inexperienced. Their being young can help them in earlier series', but will be their downfall down the road. The key to their success will be if Sidney Crosby can produce, and average at least 1 point per game. Now to do that with the opposition gunning to shut you down...It'll will be a real test to reveal his stardom, stamina, composier, mental/physical toughness and maturity...Sid, if you want to be the NHL, you've got to beat the NHL first. My prediction: They'll win their first series 4-2, then lose in the second round 4-3.

I wanna see Zetterberg and Bertuzzi in the lineup before the playoffs....well, they will so, I guess that doesn't count. Also, I want see Sammy aim for somewhere other than the logo on the goalie's jersey.

I went three..four? years ago. The prices arent as steep as expected. I bought 4 Ray Whitney One piece TPS Responses for $70 each. Thier normal list price was $100+. Now, the used/autographed equipment, thats another stroy...That'll eat at your wallet.

Thats true, Maltby ended up in the box with Fiddler. Tootoo is a smart player. That little bastard
-
If he's causing such a stir everywhere he plays, especially here...He's obviously doing something right. He's tremendous at taking the opposition off of their game, focusing on head hunting him. I would love for him to play on my team. I also like the fact that he's 5'9'' and playing that kind of style...I don't hate Tootoo, i just hate Nashville. And for everyone comparing Tootoo and Maltby. It's a good comparison. They play the same style. Tootoo girled out last night against Bootland. But, if you remember, Maltby girled out when Fiddler dropped his gloves last night also..

Healthy or not, Hudler just stole his playoff spot.

If any of you have seen the "Tootoo story" that aired last year on OLN, it's actully a pretty great/sad story. As much as I hate him, I give him alot of credit for what he's gone through. His brother, a complete better hockey player, future first round draft pick, commited suicide. He wears the 22 because his brother wore 55, which flipped upside down, is kinda like 22. In the Jr. league that his older brother played in, the number 55 is retired i think league wide. It's not because of his name, which actully never occured to me, and is quite humorous. His bro was his best friend, they lived with a host family together, and heavily looked up to his brother. It's a very sad story, but also very inspirational. So, as much as Tootoo's agitator style gets to me, I respect him for what he's been through to get to and stay at this level. I wouldn't mind having him on my team.
