While I agree with everything you have said, I just don't see your logic in every other team gunning down Dallas if they become #1. Detroit is Detroit, no matter who they play they will always have to play their A game to be able to beat the other team. Don't you remember Chicago earlier this season, Columbus and even that game with Atlanta? Bottom line is Detroit will always have a bullseye on their back no matter what position they are in during the season. Which makes you(the hockey fan) either love them more or hate them more.

When ZDH don't score, we don't win. That's the bottom line and the Anaheim Ducks know this already cause they won the Cup last year.

Yes we could afford all 3 of them. But I don't know if we can add a Dman like Stuart if we add those 3, especially Feds and Hossa. McCarty would only cost league minimum which is what? 500k? thats nothing. He will only be a depth player for the playoffs in the likely hood that one of our players gets injured. Things you need to look at are 1.) Our current Salary Cap 2.) Feds and Hossa's current Salary for this year 3.) If we are able to fit them in under the cap for the playoffs.
