    Detroit looking to move Lilja?

Detroit's looking to move Lilja? Lilja can't even move Lilja -- talk about slow-footed. Don't see why anyone would want him at his pricetag -- especially in that rumoured trade for Forsberg.

    Forsberg for Schneider and Lilja

Hmmmm. Don't see it happening, but I'd make that trade in a heartbeat if it involved dumping Lilja and moving Schneider. Sure, we're loaded at centre, but Forsberg's a ddifference-maker, one of the best players in this league when he's healthy -- Lang would probably then get moved anyway. Good as Schneider is, I can live without his offence and bad defensive lapses. But, again, I can't see this deal happening, although it would make sense to me if, say, Calgary worked out a trade, or the Preds. Jeez, can you imagine the Predators with Forsberg on that squad???

    Gagne could be shipped

Bwa-ha-ha, Cullimore for Gagne. Maybe we can offer Lilja for Gagne. The Flyers would be insane to trade him, but if Holmgren's looking to "make an impact," he should remember how the Flames' Doug Risebrough tried to "make an impact" back in the 90s and traded Doug Gilmour for a bunch of undiluted crap. As for us getting Gagne, itt'd take more than Grigorenko and any other dead weight on our roster; like someone else said, you'd better start with Howard and toss in a Kronwall orFilppula. I'd rather wait for free agency or, if we're actually in the race at trade deadline time, pick someone off some non-contender's team for cheap.

    Valeri Bure

He's currently banging that chick from Full House.

Boston Herald: Nabokov for Glen Murray

Maybe the Sharks would flip Murray somewhere else to get a top defenceman (who that would be I don't know. ) But I can't see why they'd need another frontline forward, as they're stacked up front.

things heating up in trade land

Doan can probably be had for a decent price, but does Detroit have anything of value to offer? Grigorenko? He hasn't been the same since his car accident. Hudler? Invisible. McDonald? A third-stringer at best. Draft picks? Not enought o land someone of Doan's caliber -- other teams that could afford to get Doan probably have more to offer for him. Besides, Holland's a do-nothing kind of guy; I can hardly see him shaking things up at this point.

    Habs talking to Wings

I agree. Lang's a good hockey player who, rightly or wrongly, has this reputation that he isn't a winner that follows him from team to team. But he's a consistent point producer and actually puts up results in the playoffs, which much of this team seems incapable of doing. Still, I'm not surprised he'd be on the trade block -- we're deep at center, unless Babcock wants to move Zetterberg back to the wing. And I think Lang's contract might be up after this year, which could prove attractive to a team that feels it needs that one player to get them over the hump. But maybe keeping him a while longer gets us over the hump, too -- as long as Holland acquires a couple more players to address the team's needs.

Souray to Det for Lang and prospect?

Souray would be like the second coming of Lilja. Sure, he's decent on the pp, but the man is a pylon. I'm not opposed to dealing Lang, but we'd need a scorer back -- otherwise it's Datysuk, Zetterberg, Williams, Samuelsson and Holmstrom forming our offensive core at forward. Which means no playoffs.

    Wings/Sabres working on a trade?

Sounds like a bunch of crap to me -- as good as Biron and Afinogenov are, you can probably fetch something more substantial for a guy like Kronwall. He's a top young defenceman who has shown the ability to dominate -- if Holland is going to trade him, it'd better be for an established veteran scorer. And I'd be surprised if it isn't Belfour who ultimately tends the pipes.

    St Louis?

If we can make it happen, I'd love to see St Louis with the Wings. Because of Tampa's cap situation, I don't know how much (or how little) they'd want back. I would think they'd just want a bunch of prospects who are close (Hudler, Filppula, etc.) than someone who may be a vet but costs a lot. And I don't get all this sigh and trade stuff with Legace -- there are better, established No. 1 goalies that'll be on the market, so why settle for him? But St Louis is exactly the type of player Detroit needs and hasn't had in a long time. By the way, what's this about a Datsyuk for Thornton trade that was quashed?

    Lang for Zednik

Greetings fellow Wings fans, First time poster here, so please be gentle. I'd like to debut by saying Lang for Zednik would be a terrible trade, and would be further proof that Ken Holland doesn't know what he's doing. While I'm no great fan of Lang's, he's certainly a heckuva lot better player than Zednik, probably one of the laziest and softest players in the league. Come on, Holland -- I'm with the others who are calling for more changes to the roster. Three straight early playoff exits, and all in the exact same manner (no scoring, no leadership, overmatched defence, too much perimeter play), demand for major alterations. I'm all for dealing Lang if it makes sense, such as freeing up cap space, getting a prospect or picks, but not if it's to land a stiff like Zednik who'll disappear come playoff time. I was stunned by how well the Wings performed in the regular season, and was very disappointed -- but not surprised -- at their loss to the Oilers. We have a habit of making decent teams look great, and filling them with the confidence that will carry them to the Cup final. It's time there was a big culture change on the team, and if that means not re-signing Shanahan and Yzerman and dealing guys like Schneider and Lang, so be it.
