For about a 6 year span there wasnt a more dominant forward in the NHL. I will never forget the World Juniors when he broke about 3 collarbones with legal hits and ended up having so much room on the ice that he could do whatever he wanted.

I dropped Bert and added Afinegenov to my fantasy team solely because of this thread. Seriously though Afinegenov reminds me a lot of Sergei Samsonov. Boatloads of talent but a bottlecap full of desire. Maybe he's motivated enough to play well this season in Atlanta and get a big contract,maybe not. Either way I would rather have Williams.

My point exactly. Obviously we cant write him off for these performances in big games but it shows at least that hes probably not near ready for the NHL .

McCollum's play at the WJHC last year concerns me and makes me think he isnt near ready. He was bad and Canada made him their *****.

Honestly though Pav cant do the "Datsyukian" every time or goalies will stop it. There has to be the threat of him shooting for it to work.

That it wasnt forseen is a mistake. They failed to properly project Quinceys skills, it happens. The front office may be the best in hockey but theyre not perfect.

I would never resent the amount of praise management get, they have done a great job working with the cap and drafting low. All I am saying is that we shouldnt be afraid to criticize them when they do make a mistake which it seems like a lot people here are. Letting Quincey go for nothing was a mistake. You can argue it was a minor mistake or that they couldnt have done it any other way but that doesnt change it.

I didnt think Quincey played enough to judge him. Even if everything you say is true,the fact of the matter is they made the wrong choice. We praise management for all the great moves theyve made but they screwed this one up.

If there are worse sports fans on earth than Montreal Canadien fans I would like to see them. It always "We won 26 cups". No one mentions that they had the upper hand on every team in the league up until the 70's when they had first choice of every Quebec born player. Imagine if Toronto had first choice of Ontario born players. Or if Detroit had first pick of Michigan born players. I dont count any Montreal Cup victories before 1980.

Its also possible theres so much more media coverage these days that we hear more about injuries than ever before. Still very concerning to me.

I have been following this team for over 25 years and I cant remember another pre-season with this many. At least not all at once.

I'm the same way. It was a very bitter pill to swallow but I've come to the realization that Pittsburgh wanted it more. We had more talent and its not like we didnt want it but they just had more desire. Im also from Halifax, Nova Scotia which is basically the Mecca of Cindy Crosby so I have had to endure even more. A long summer indeed.....
