I was thinkin about trading up as well. Quincey,Meech maybe a forward prospect and the 30th pick. The only problem with trading up is that the Wings probably wouldnt want to empty the prospect cupboard.

Not to doubt you,but do you have a link? EDIT-nevermind I found it myself. Now that I look at the names it appears they carried 8 this year including Meech. Problem is I count 9 keys guys including Ericsson.

I doubt we carry 8 D-men and Meech has to clear waivers to be sent down.

I agree with that 100% and I have no problem with Lilja as a 6th or 7th D-Man. The problem becomes salary and playing time for the younger guys. Lilja made 1 mill last season and I can only assume he is going to want at least that next year. It doesnt make sense to pay a 7th that kind of money when we have some young guys who could do the job. If they cant then I think there are plenty of experienced guys out there the Wings could get for less money.

The Wings would have to sign Lilja and Grigorenko before they trade either of them.Kenny has already said he wont sign Grigorenko and if they do sign Lilja it wont be just to trade him away. I think they go after one UFA forward and it could be Sundin or Fedorov but I would personally rather see a guy like Rolston come here. I doubt they do much on D unless the fail to sign Stuart.

Chelios has been playing for a number of years now with little or no cartilage in his knee so hes been a freak of nature for a while.

I agree with you on the Ozzie pick but im not sure its as cut and dry as you say. Ozzie bashers are rampant and point to his lack of shots.
