Some good ideas there but Cammalleri is under contract through next season so you can forget him. I am also for a bigger more physical defenseman but we have to make sure he can play in our system, like be able to skate considerably faster than me,which some of these guy clearly cant. i.e Hal Gill.
-
I think both players owed it to their GM,Coach and teammates to make up their minds much sooner so while I agree that this is very plausible it doesnt excuse them in my mind.
-
First off I love how laid out this is but the argument against scenario three is the moves Burke had to make in order to allow Selanne and Niedermayer to play a game. He had to trade an all star in Andy McDonald for washed up Doug Weight.
-
Im not saying Im a better man than anyone here,my appologies to anyone who thought I implied that. Im saying that morals in general make me a better man. Its not as much about hard work as it is about selfishness. Niedermayer and Selanne are hard working hockey players but their decisions are very selfish and I guess thats what bothers me more than anything.
-
Not only would that make me a better infantry soldier it also makes me a better man. Perhaps theres no room for morals in the NHL.
-
Thats missing the point entirely. It doesnt matter who they replace. You can have Selanne and Nierdermayer,I'll take any two players who choose to be a part of the team from the beginning.
-
Give me the hardworking guy with talent over the not so interested superstar anyday. The ultimate irony would be the Ducks not even making the playoffs.Very doubtful but a man can dream.
-
All I know is that if I was either of the 2 Ducks who will now be replaced in the line-up by Selanne and Niedermayer I would be very unhappy. Im sure they will tow the company line and say they are for whatever makes the team better but that will be B.S. These two players in all likelyhood had to work their butts off through training camp and more than half the season only to be replaced by two players who did neither of those things. It seems obvious to me that neither Niedermayer or Selanne ever intended to retire and this was just a ploy by two veterans to skip half of the season and the oft hated training camp. The NHL needs to address this "retirement" thing quickly so fans and teammates dont have to deal with this nonsense again.

Does Lurch count as an animal?Cuz I still say this is money..
-
Yes,since Downey has shown he is worthy of first line ice time.
-
I thought Kopecky played maybe his best game of the year last night filling in for Dan Cleary as a top 6 forward and deserves more ice time. Speaking of the Newf, whats his status?
-
And even if it did fit,he couldnt even fit through the Zamboni doors.
-
When I made this topic it was under the impression that Cleary may miss a few games and it was Cleary's ice time that I thought should go to Kopecky. I want to emphatically state that I do no think Kopecky deserves more ice time than any of our top 6 forwards.Sure has been a nice debate though......

Doesnt that prove his point? Because Hatcher cant skake well at all since he blew out the knee.
-
I think the key here is that the trade deadline is only a month away. They very well could be there to scout tendancies but what fun would that be? A good deal of hockey experts beleive those scouts were there for trade possibilities or they just want people to beleive it, either way its more entertaining discussing trades.
-
Youre right about all those things but our system requires that players be good skaters above all else. Say what you want about Lilja but he is an above average skater.
-
Ever watch Vandermeer skate? It looks like the ice is made of molasses.

I was watching the TSN telecast of Montreal making Boston their ***** when I heard the intermission crew talking about what teams would have to give up to get Sundin. As much as I love Kronwall I think I would pull the trigger if this is what it took to get him.
-
Actually Sundin IS a whole lot better than Hudler and Flip right now.In a year maybe two he wont be but this is about winning the cup this year. Also it wouldnt be neccesary to give up Hudler or Flip to get another defenseman.
-
I think we may be losing sight of the ultimate goal, the Stanley Cup.Its not our goal to be a team that almost wins for 5 years. Having Sundin in our line-up does not guarantee a cup but no trade does that. It would however make us WAY more difficult to beat. Also consider the effects of losing Hank for the playoff run due to his chronic balky back. Having Sundin provides insurance against an injury. Losing Kronwall would suck for our defence but we actually have enough cap room to add a physical d-man as well.
-
I doubt it. Jiri while a very solid player is very small.Kesler is highly regarded by NHL GM's due to his speed and size.Michalek did score 26 goals and 66 points last year. Maybe if Kenny distracts Fletcher with some Depends adult diapers or some episodes of Murder She Wrote we could make it happen.
-
Didnt mean to imply that this was an official rumour, just what Mcguire would ask for for if he was GM. As annoying as he is he would probably be better than old man Fletcher.
-
Actually if they just left Jerome Bettis there from the NFL show he would be better than anyone else they have for hockey.
-
I wish he had surgery last offseason, this would all be over now.
-
I actually wanted him to skip it anyway.
