Im not as much worried about the contact as I am about him missing the opportunity to rest.

Saw this in the Edmonton Journal online: It's a given the Detroit Red Wings will take a run at Toronto's Mats Sundin if he waives his "no-trade" clause but they'll have to be careful what they part with to land him. He doubts the Wings would part with their 2008 first round pick but suggests forward Jiri Hudler, goalie Jim Howard or "one of their young d-men". As the Leafs season keeps going in the crapper this one is going to gain some steam.

Kovalchuk also has more points than Crosby and has been the most dynamic offensive player in the league. Thats what the all star game is about. I think the voters got it wrong in the East.
-
Good,they can have him.
-
Kovalchuk has 34 goals.
-
Where the hell is Ilya Kovalchuk and Alex Ovechkin for the East?
-
Thats why I think Mario was the greatest offensive player of all time and not Wayne.

This is from Spectors website: MLIVE.COM: Blogger George James Malik dismissed reports out of Canada that the Detroit Red Wings would be frontrunners for Sundin if he hit the trade block or that Sundin is pining to play with his fellow Swedes on the Wings. Malik calls the rumours "silly" and "patently ridiculous", doubting that Wings management would make the same mistake of giving up talented prospects for Sundin as it did last season in dealing away Shawn Mattias. Spector's Note: I agree with Malik's take on the "Sundin to Detroit" speculation. Not that the Wings wouldn't be interested but I don't see them parting with a king's ransom to land him. Given how well the Wings are playing this season I suspect Holland will only wish to make minor tweaks (if any at all) to his roster. Zeisberger makes a very good point about trading Sundin and signing him this summer, but that's a risky move if Sundin is non-committal over returning to Toronto. If the Leafs remain in striking distance of the playoffs they won't move Sundin but that could change if the club goes into free-fall in the coming weeks. Theres two hockey guys who dont think it will happen.

So if we say Ozzie stole 3 games for us this year does that make him more valuable to this team than Nick? I dont think so,but like I said its great that we have so many MVP candidates to argue about.Ozzie deserves to be recognized for his brilliant play but maybe it should be first half Player Of The Year because I'm willing to bet if Mike Babcock had to choose one of the two it would be Nick.

Thats the great question. Theres a school of thought that a teams window of opportunity is small and that you should go for it when you have the chance. However the Wings have remained near the top of the league now for over 10 years so you could argue that doesnt apply here and that we should hold on to our prospects. My official vote is "No" if the deal involves Kindl and/or Filppula.
-
Look at the history of what rental players have been traded for. It would take at LEAST Kindl and a pick.
-
Even if you got Ferguson drunk he wouldnt do that one.
-
He has way more talent than Tootoo. I think Downey might need pyschological help.
-
I think they need both. An owner that actually cares about winning along with making money would be an excellent start. Hey having a Russian Billionaire buy their team worked out well for Chelsea FC.

MVP is by definition most valuable to the team. Thats Nick to me,in fact I would say hes the MVP of the entire league in the first half. 30 minutes a game +34 ,40 points and kills almost all our penalties. I love Ozzie ,Hank and Pavel and they are all having great years but Nick is Nick. Its actually a testament to how well the team has played that we have 4 legitimate MVP candidates to argue about.
-
Not to take anything away from Chris Osgood,he has played out of his mind this year, but who would you rather NOT have? Nick Lidstrom or Chris Osgood? Theres your MVP.

I agree 100%. I was just saying Lebda as part of a deal. The other poster mentioned that Lebda was untouchable with I thought was silly.
-
I would give up Lebda in a Sundin deal no problem.
-
The rental thing bothers me too. It REALLY bothered me watching Shawn Mattias play for Canada.
-
Kenny Jonsson

I only wish the Wings/Avalanche rivalry was this good on the ice.
-
Thanks for posting , I enjoyed that. The game passed Don by a LOOOOONG time ago.
-
Im willing to bet there were many Wings watching this game. The winner of the U.S/Canada game will now face Sweden in the final.
-
That would be an A-Hole

It is a head scratcher thats for sure. When he was in Edmonton he actually scared me when he had the puck against us.
