Anyone wanna talk about Franzen? He's been killing it out there this pre-season! I still remember the day we re-signed him and most everyone said he had "stone hands", and "only good cause he has size." Crash and Bang, Franz!
-
Chelios? Wow he REALLY wants a spot on that Power Play... Good for him. 47 is the new 26.
-
Apperently we scored again. 2-0 Wings!
-
Of course not. This one was WAYYY better.

I like the one guy who looks like he is taking a lick off of # 21's skate. "Huh? I like to lick skate blades!"

xGDT: 9/18 Red Wings @ Minnesota Wild

So far I am very impressed with Ryno. He has been one that I have had my eye on for a year now, and it seems like he is progressing well. For being relatively in-experienced, he does not seem to be out of place by any stretch. Oh and Ozzie is BADASS! <-- as usual!!! -
Grigs on the first line? I highly doubt it. At least not right away. In the article, Flip and Draper are on the same line. I think that Babs still wants Cleary on the wing, not center. More likely : Homer - Dats - Sammy Huds - Zata - Franz/Grigs? Cleary/Franz? - Flip - Drapes Maltby/Cleary? - Kopay - Drake In any case - I think that is what Babs will most likely try. I personally would switch Franz with Cleary. Wow... we really need to start investing in wingers who can play thier part. This center depth is giving me migranes.
-
If you continue reading the article, it goes on to say Drapes will be on Flips line, not Kopay's. Flip is slick enough to take advantage of Drape's speed, where as Kopay probably is a little too slow (can you say offsides?) to properly utilize Drapes.

OsGOD, Thanks for the general post! I'm really looking forward to it, and the draft time I can totally make too! Thanks for the offer... I'm registered.

Free Hudler? ILL TAKE IT! (dials Lang's phone #) Hello, Lang? Yes, its me. I have something you want... /simpsons Nah, you're completely right. Besides.... who's ever heard of Martin St. Louis?

"Get everyone together! I have something very important to say... Yeah, EVERYONE. I dont care how you do it... get them down here! Like on a scale of 1 to ten for importance, 10 being highest this is definetly a 10. " "All right all right, as you all know I'm here to say something very important, and it has been a big question mark in the minds of everyone out there. HEY! QUIET IN BACK! IM TALKING HERE! I wanna thank everyone for coming out today to hear what it is I have to say..." "Nothing has changed. That is all. NO FURTHER QUESTIONS."

I havent played in one before, but I am really serious about putting in the effort. I watch every single wings game on tv, and I will be getting Center Ice so I can keep updated on goings on around the NHL. I'd like to get my name on the list for a spot on the free LGW league. If not, I'll just keep my ear to the ground and try to get in when the league is forming.

Somehow, back in the deepest reaches of my mind.. I knew you were up at this hour on a sunday, Eva. Thanks for taking the time to explain it... and the H2H meathod seems to be a better way for me to go (at least more intriguinging). It seems to be closer to the football meathod of game that my roomies attempted to teach me, and therefore makes more sense. plus, I like the idea of matching up for a week, and treating it like one single game, then moving on. The accumulation thing would drive me nuts if the players I chose played terribly.
-
Its funny someone should post about this... i was just thinking about it. Ive never played fantasy anything... and was wondering how the point system worked. Ive had my roomies try to explain fantasy football to me, but it might as well have been in hyroglyphics (im football retarded). Anyone care to take the time to explain it? or have a link where I can learn? I'm really interested in trying a free league this season.

Just like # 19? Joe Sakic, Markus Naslund, Andy McDonald, Shane Doan, Etc... I think that the only way numbers wont be used is they are retired by thier respective teams and # 99. A lot of players wear numbers of players that they admire. Most likely, somewhere down the line, someone with an affinity for Fedorov will choose 91 to honor him, or just because they like that number (or randomely assigned it.)

3 Arsenal Fans!

So, what you're really trying to tell me is that the Blackhawks got a journeyman with 12 points last season.... for a player with 41 (remarkable) points on a bottom feeding Chicago team? How does that make sense? I guess my hopes for Chicago to return to its Original Six heritage must wait yet another agonizing season. J-Willy and Lang have been sent to Hockey Purgatory. Have a few on the house with the Bulin Wall... its going to be a long one, Hawks.

Speaking of Fliter... I could watch on loop. No, I thought the real fans are in the upper bowl...

I really like the looks of those lines so far... except sammy being on the top line. BARF. Otherwise our second line isnt nearly as hopeless as everyone has made it seem all summer long. Flip moving up? I cant wait to see what he can do. Zata junior, anyone? Third line looks solid too. Keeps huds from getting premier time (which is okay in my book for now), but he gets his own line... Take it or leave it. Plus 2 proven (more or less) physical guys, both of which can add scoring depth. Not nearly as hopeless as some have thought. Trim the fat from last season, let new legs move up the chart, and add a solid puck moving Dman. Me likey.

All I have to say is flat out terrible. Whoever thought white and silver should be primary colors on a jersey should be taken out back and beaten with a rubber hose. White? Fine. Silver? Im listening. NOT both together. Add in some random skinny lines just to have them. Lastly... I hope those are not actual size ones. Unless we are going to watch the NHL without pads from now on. And everyone thought Bettman was trying to make the league weaker... p.s. this is the scary path we go down when we use vertical striping :
-
1. Why is Dats second line center? He puts up better (marginally) numbers, and is paid more, and has more offensive touch. 2. Wouldn't Cleary be a better choice for center on the 3rd line? He has actually played center on Detroit, and Franzen makes a fantastic winger (even though he played center for limited time in Sweden.) 3. Dont you know that Hudler the Hated won't make 1st line time? Flip, Franz or Grigs will get 1st or 2nd time way faster than Huds will. 4. Why cant hockey season start tonite? I am so tired of the offseason... (although I have been off my seat waiting for re-signs and july 1.)

Your Bertuzzi expectations if he re-signs
swedishconnection replied to uk_redwing's topic in General
I guess my argument is that Bert provides more of the intangebles than Homer does, and posesses more ability. Whether he uses that ability to its fullest is up to him, but Mgmt needs to take that into consderation at the very least. Bert can skate faster, through traffic, and finesse the puck far better than Homer can (keep in mind I'm talking about when he's on his game... when talking of Bert I thought I had to add that in) . He can be very intimidating against opposing D, and can take hits and keep on going. If Bert's abilities make it easier for other players to score, isnt that worth something additional than just how many goals he's scored? -
Your Bertuzzi expectations if he re-signs

Do you collect taxes when you are not posting? If this is really how you feel ; that money dictates the play expected, then how do you explain Cleary? He's making less both this past year and next than Filppula... Technically we should restructure both player's contracts to be more in line with production in the past year, according to your logic. Money isn't everything. Sounds cliche, doesnt it? Dont underestimate a Canadian's drive for Lord Stanley. Bert has more in the tank, he just has to get his ass in gear. I guess I dont expect money to influence production. Look at Draper and Maltby. They get paid to do what they do best so that our scorers can do what they do. Money does not equal production. Bert provides soft hands, yes. He also makes opposing D back off of the rush. He's huge, and breaks people's pelvis's when they attempt to check him. (see : Columbus at end of last season) He posseses more than just production potental, in my eyes. So salary cannot justify production in his case, according to the way I think. -

Who is your favorite all time player, AND your favorite active player?
swedishconnection replied to a topic in General
Schneids shoots left, but plays right point... especially on the PP. Makes it harder to take the puck off the boards, simply because your on your backhand. However, it makes it much easier to line up shots at net because left shots on the right points put pucks smack down the middle slot easier. Lids shoots left and plays left point. Easier to take pucks off boards, but is more un-natural defenceman style. This is why Lids does the blue-line-butt-wiggle-so-I-can-take-better-shot dance when he backs up to the slot. <--- That is how I play. Left defence, left handed shooter. Simply put... Schneids and Lids are excellent caliber D-men, and can switch easily between the 2. However, having Left D-men that shoot right-handed are preferred. This is why I love it when Chelios (Left point, right shot) and Lebda (right point, left shot) play on a line together. It seems a bit tedious, but simple things like that can make a difference in the game. Having all left shooting D-men out there can give problems to the wings, and has. Fortunately, we have STELLAR D and they can neutralize mistakes that can occur because of this unbalance.
