    Holmstrom out with sore knee

I'd like to see Holmstrom take care of himself this year and be healthy once the playoffs start. Take as long as you need!

Still Bitter about Game 5 loss

I think your tops man, I drove only 4hrs back and forth from Ontario. ps. Coolest thing was when a Black Ferrari pulled up beside us on 401 nearing Windsor on game day. It had New York plates and gave me and wife thumbs up. We had wings flag on car and jerseys on. I then noticed he had a Detroit Redwings Stanley Cup Championship Plate Bracket from 97. Anyone know who this might be. Happened so fast hard to recognize him. He was definitely going to game because we saw him again crossing border around 2pm gameday.

Still Bitter about Game 5 loss

I hear ya buddy, still on lots of fans minds. I was there for game 5 too. It's funny I'm reading ur topic today because I had a dream about game last night as well. Honestly, I'm still shocked given the circumstances and I still blame the refs. It makes me feel better And I blame Bettman. That's a given, lol.
  7. The Star Kevin McGran SPORTS REPORTER The Toronto Maple Leafs are moving closer to signing Swedish defenceman Jonas Frogren, a mainstay of the Tre Konor national team. "It hasn't happened yet, but it will happen," one insider close to the deal told thestar.com today. Frogen, a 6-1, 200-pound stay-at-home defenceman negotatiated his release from Farjestad of the Swedish Elite League. He told the Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, that he would soon sign with the Maple Leafs. "I'm pleased to pursue my dream," said Frogren. Based on comments made to Aftonbladet by Färjestads president Thomas Rundqvist,, it appears the Maple Leafs will pay the Swedish club at least $200,000 U.S. for Frogren. "We have never stopped a player who wanted to become an NHL professional, and when we could (we try to) find a solution with Jonas and his agent became (so) all the parties are satisfied," said Runddqvist. "We have always fought to get paid market value — and more — than the old agreement and that we have received." Under the terms of the old NHL transfer agreement with the International Ice Hockey Federation, NHL clubs paid $200,000 for a player. There is no transfer agreement in place any more. Teams simply now have a handshake agreement not to poach a player under contract. Frogren, 27, has played nine seasons with Farjestads. Frogren is expected to make the Leafs, giving the team nine bluliners under contract: Tomas Kaberle, Pavel Kubina, Bryan McCabe, Anton Stralman, Jeff Finger, Staffan Kronwall, Carlo Colaiacovo, Ian White and Frogren. Rookie prospect Luke Schenn, the Leafs' No. 1 pick in the draft last month, is also expected to have a shot at making the team. GM Cliff Fletcher is quietly hoping to convince McCabe to waive his no-movement contract. He may well be entertaining offers for Kubina, who's no-trade clause is null until Aug. 15.

    The Enforcer Thread

We need a real enforcer, enough with Mccarty and Downey. Our guys need some real protection!!!

    It almost isn't even fair.

+1 Oprik gave them an amazing deal, same with Malkin in terms of what they could have received elsewhere. It's completely fair. Wings have earned the position their in by drafting well and signing guys they feel would become stars early. If hadn't of won the cup last year, Hossa wouldn't have signed with us.
  14. Good thing we signed Lilja, he can take down Avery on a regular basis with him in the Western Conference.

    Wings sign Conklin: 1-year, $750K

Kenny Holland obviously believes Ty has more experience and will be more dependable then Jimmy Howard if we Ozzie gets injured. Hopefully that makes you feel better.

    Remember that Stuart rumor?

Unless he signs for 1 yr, then no. Jagr wants 15mill over 2 yrs, period.

    Wings sign Conklin: 1-year, $750K

Very happy with this, good signing Kenny. Ty has more experience then Howard and when you have so much tied in other players, what if Ozzie gets injured. It happens people, so be happy our backup will be Ty. Last thing I want in the playoffs is Howard in with so little experience. And if you think experience doesn't matter, look at the Pens in the final. Plus, I'm sure he'll play 20+ games during the season to help Ozzie with the Load. Great sigining.

Wings out of picture for Sundin, Hossa, Rolston

To me he's not as good as Pavel or Hank, so why would we offer this much and for this long. Anyone else confused. Not questioning source, but doesn't sound like Kenny.

    Leafs sign Hagman

You think they would have learned from Blake, he won't produce that again.
