Sounds good to me

I'm really praying that if Kenny does make a deal for Sundin, Hossa, or anyone else whose contract is up this year that they must be re-signed before giving away anything. I'm really worried were going to get Sundin and then he'll go back to T.O. next year. Please re-assure me this will happen Kenny!!!

I would think so as well, Ozzie hasn't played back to back games in 2 days all year. Looking forward to seeing Howard in action again!

Really looking forward to this weekend and should be very interesting to see how the team responds with Lidstrom gone for an extended time, hasn't ever really happened before. Will be nice to watch some of the young guys in action. Also, I'm wondering about the starting goalies. Ozzie I'm assuming against the flames but what about Saturday night. I don't think Ozzie has played back to back all year. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. If so, looks like Howard I'm assuming would start Saturday against the Canucks, primetime hockey night in Canada on CBC, as well as a Wing Defense in front of him probably tired from the night before against the Flames. Should be interesting! Who knows, maybe we'll have a new member to welcome..... Maybe Sundin!

CanadianWings, I think you should replace your Blake photo with Sundin!!!
-
This is old news from last night isn't it??? Sportsnet Thread about same thing from last night
-
Brad Who??? It's all about Sundin!!!
-
Fair enough, but Mats is also a Class act and would like to play for a classy organization like the Wings, and not with a Bunch of Thugs from Anaheim.
-
Ya, but there's more to it then that my friend. I don't think he cares about that as we're both cup contenders, but rather that Detroit has the most swedes in the league by far and he wouldn't be that far from T.O. as he has alot friends there, that's the key, not far from T.O. 'Mats says he will always keep a place here in TO, even when his playing days are over. The Rosedale mansion that famously went on the market last summer, leading to speculation about Sundin's intentions, is no longer for sale and he lives there alone. "I've been in Toronto 12 years. It certainly feels like home.''' - Source The Star If he goes anywhere, he's coming here man!!!!!

Don't remind me.

True dat, hopefully Ozzie can prove me wrong with a stellar performance. I know Hall of fame Harold would like that.
-
But does Sundin want to go there, that's the question. I think Lidstrom was a little more convincing when he talked to Sundin about coming to Detroit then Bertuzzi was, lol.
-
lol, don't worry, I'm blame the defense instead for giving up too many chances against Ozzie!
-
lol, don't worry, we should get goaltending at least one night, I won't mention which! j/k

^ Agreed, his size with the type of play he engages in results in the types of injuries he suffers. Until he can play a one or two full seasons he's trade material for sure.

We need to make Sundin happen, if anything to avoid Anaheim getting him. I hate the Ducks, bunch of thugs, shouldn't they be going after Avery since he's an UFA. Actually, we should be going after Avery in my opinion, but I don't think many would agree with me or the Rangers would even let him go. The rangers winning % is drastically higher with him in the lineup.

Sundin is by far the top player on the market right now and would instantly multiply our chances of winning the cup as long as Hasek stays healthy. Sundin is nothing short of one of the most consistent top players in this league, is the size and skill we need on the ice to not be pushed around in the offense zone and would definitely re-sign once he starts hanging out with all the swedes on our team. Giving up Kronwall for someone to help us win the cup this year is a no-brainer. Kronwall can be replaced, but getting someone like Sundin only comes around once in a while. Of course, Sundin must re-sign for this to be worth it, and Kenny wouldn't do it if he doesn't.

Miller76, just to answer your question, the reason you didn't hear anything about Osgood is because Theodore was the third star of the game, he actually had some goaltending to do last night. Ozzie hardly deserves any credit, the team in front of him does. Ozzie had an easy night. All first half of this year Ozzie had it easy, hence his stats, after all-star game when our team wasn't playing good, he couldn't steal any games for us based on his skills. He's a good goalie, but just average and looks better given the team in front of him.
-
That might be tough, Cliff Fletcher won't give him away that easy, might take Ozzie and a first rounder.
-
Trade him while he still has Value!!! Absolutely. He was well rested last night and Detroit completely outplayed Colorado, outshooting them 40-18. Any average goalie in front of a stellar performance like Detroit last night could also have pulled the shutout. Hence why Osgood's stats look over-inflated. Detroit plays good, this is what happens for any goalie. Minimal chances to stop and a easy night. Detroit plays bad and the flood gates open on Ozzie. In comparison, Howard made 30+ saves the other day on much better scoring chances then what Ozzie saved last night. Not too mention against a better Dallas team. We don't need Ozzie as our backup in the playoffs. Let's bolster our lineup.

Sundin over Hossa any day!!! If we get Sundin and Hasek stays healthy, it's over!

Ozzie's always been average, always, I'm not saying he's not, but when your winning all the time you don't need really play around with your team much. But when your losing, you need to question if I had an elite goalie, could we have turned a few of those Losses into Wins, and the answer is yes, or at least boosted the teams confidence. When your outshooting your opponent by more then any other team in the league and you can't have Ozzie come up with a few big time saves, then he's average. Howard looked great yesterday and made a couple of those saves were the other team should have scored, like with couple breakaways we had, Turco made the stops. Trade Ozzie and get something in return, we're better of with Hasek and Howard backing him up. Heck, you could probably even re-sign Hasek next year with Howard playing 60% of the time. We need a change, we can't live in the past and should never have brought Average Ozzie back. Howard should have been up earlier backing up Hasek to begin with. Period. Next, we need Sundin, and by sounds of a Report today Detroit is the one place Sundin would really want to go if he didn't have a choice. I really hope we get him, he's the size and skill we need. Since osgood is amazing, maybe trade him for Toskala while were at it. He's obviously better and cheaper. Why wouldn't the leafs do it then???

Whatever buddy, no one is saying Howard is El Salvador and should be our starter. We're simply saying at this point, Howard is equal to if not going to be more reliable then Ozzie. As result, since Ozzie to the general NHL is worth more, trade him for some more skill and him backing up Hasek will suffice in the playoffs. Of all the goalies you mentioned above aside from Joseph, Hasek, and Vernon I wouldn't consider any to be Elite. And of these three, we had none of them starting in their prime for us. This is why we haven't had a Vezina winning goalie in Detroit since Terry Sawchuck. We've never had an Top Notch Goalie in his prime with the Wings in a long, long time. As result, we've often fond ourselves bombing in the playoffs and early after having a stellar season. And I don't want us being the Pats of the NHL.

I was definitely not one of those people who over-inflated how good he was. It was Detroit's best first half of a season all-time and Ozzie only playing every second game that gave him those numbers, along with always completely out shooting and out chancing the opposing teams. Once we have an average team, like Detroit since the All-Star break, Ozzie is exposed for the Average goalie he is. The point that Ozzie has sucked since the All-Star break and isn't able to rebound is something to worry about because in the playoffs you need to rebound the next game or your toast. Howard's shown over the last few games he's very capable of being Detroit's backup. Look at Cam Ward, no one would have thought he was ready, but won the cup for the canes with his Stellar Goaltending!
