We should honestly just trade him. Howard would be a better backup to Hasek in the playoffs in cause he gets injured and when then get someone solid in return.

It's funny what a top notch goalie does for ya! Although today goaltending was not our problem obviously, we need to score a goal! Hopefully Howard plays Monday night!!!

Your comparing him just against one team. Great, then let's compare Toskala just against the Wings. He should then be crowned the greatest goalie that's every played the game. Enough said, stop talking. Turco is way better then Ozzie even on a bad day for him.

That's because we're getting good goaltending. Howard made a couple saves that's wouldn't have been made by an average goalie. ps. We'd also be winning if Dallas just had an average goalie.

On another note, Turco's made some great saves, another reason why it's still 0-0. He's definitely keeping Dallas in the game. But then again, that's what Top Notch Goalies do

It's safe to say if Average Ozzie was in goal today we'd be losing again! Howard looks great, trade Ozzie now while he's still worth something. If Hasek gets injured in the playoffs we have our backup. Howard's probably thinking right about know that if he always had a team like Detroit in front of him he could go to the All-Star game too!!! lol

I'll try not to mention Top Notch Goalie too often, but serioulsy, I'm very suprised with the lack of concern over our goaltending for the upcoming playoffs. Forget regular season, you should all know that, make the playoffs with home ice and your in the best possible position you can be, there are no byes in the NHL. Is no one worried that our top goalie, Hasek, is injury prone and might not be able to play the entire playoffs and given that we don't have a serious top notch goalie that can bring us the cup. You need consistent top goaltending and someone that can make a few game winning saves! Ozzie is a backup and his days are over. Without a good performance from our offense and defense he can't win us games. He is and never will be a top notch goalie despite what many of you think. He's always had a top team in front of him outplaying the opposing team and limiting the number of good chances on him. He was shown at the all-star game that he can't compete with the big boys, not too mention he can't control rebounds. We need to trade Ozzie at his bargain salary, while many still think that, and get someone like Toskala who the leafs are willing to deal. This would solidify our Stanley Cup Run without a doubt!!! Other Top Notch Goalies would be available for Osgood plus possible combination of prospects/picks. Howard would be great as a backup until he's ready later down the road to take over number 1, but in 2008-2009 we cannot play with Osgood as a Starter, mark my roads. If Hasek goes down in the playoffs, were done, even if we pickup Hossa or Sundin and another D Man. Make it happen Kenny!!!

Howard should be an improvement over how Ozzie's been playing lately and the line changes should freshen things up. I like the Z-Line, I think they'll be generating the most opportunities tomorrow. I say Detroit pulls it out 3-2. Go wings Go!!!

One last thing I forgot to mention is that at the start of the season Ozzie was a backup and was considered to be a good goalie. He's never been considered to be one of the elite goalies in the NHL. In front a good team ozzie is a good goalie, but these aweseome first half stats and all-star appearance are getting to everyone's heads. His awesome stats were as result of one of the best seasons in Redwings history. And, because he only had two play every second game and face minimal shots with low quality scoring chances, he was well rested and no doubt that's why his stats are so good. That's why at the break it was like wow, Ozzie is going to the all star game. Bowman never wanted to rely on Ozzie and he should never play more then 40-50 games in a year. He's average and will never be more.

I'd love to see you post all the highlights from this year when Osgood has completely stolen a game for the wings and our defence and offense were asleep. Hasn't happened, average ozzie needs a decent team in front of him otherwise lights out. He's not a Top Notch Goalie and that's why he's not being paid the big bucks. He's a bargain because he's good enough for the team we have. He's average and a backup and will not win us the cup this year if Hasek gets injured.

Only because the damn leafs can't even score a goal on most nights! Honestly he's peppered night in and night out, you don't think that takes a toll on him. The leafs give up a ton of high quality scoring chances each game and he's there for the most part, not too mention he's dominated the Wings since he came into the league more then any other goalie. If Toskala isn't in then Raycroft gets hammered. Toskala can't steal every game when he's getting hit with 40+ shots and the leafs aren't scoring any goals. ps. The Wings can win the cup with Hasek, the Wings will not win this year if Hasek gets injured in the playoffs and Average Ozzie goes in Net. Period. ps. Osgood has played horrible over the past 10 games, being pulled four times and an ERA of over 4.00 and save % below 850. This isn't a one or two game thing. The Key point everyone is missing is Osgood doesn't steal games for us. Our offense and defence do. HE IS AVERAGE. If we play poorly, average ozzie is exposed. The difference with Vokoun, Toskala, and so forth is they steal games where the leafs play poorly. Look at last Saturday against Detroit, text book example! Most of the game was in the Leafs end, he stole the game from Detroit!

Are you some of you honestly oblivious to the fact that without a half decent defense and offense Ozzie can't do anything. And don't tell me that the case with other teams because compared to what we have, even on an off night, Vokoun, Toskala, Brodeur don't have much in front of them. Ozzie is not a top notch goalie like his stats make it appear. Furthermore, Hasek is no longer an elite goalie like his stats say because he's on the Wings! He's past his prime but because of our Solid Team is good enough to take us to the cup as he provided last playoffs. Ozzie in front of a leafs team would be pulled in the first period of EVERY GAME!!! The wings played the entire game pratically in the leafs end last Saturday but Leafs won because of Toskala, how can you argue that! Plain and Simple.

It won't happen, wings are too solid for Osgood to keep on his bad streak. The players will pickup it up and Average Ozzie will be good enough to get some W's again thanks to the low frequency of scoring chances we'll give up. How could I miss Hasek's recent performance, those were some memorable snow angels in Toronto. He's great during the clutch in the playoffs, let's hope he stays healthy, but I'd feel better with a Top Notch Goalie.

Hossa doesn't have a ring, is -3 in the playoffs and isn't the guy I'd prefer to get. Datsyuk is an elite player, Hossa is not. Hossa also tends to play around the net, you would not see Hossa crashing the net to score a gritty goal and will only get worse from here on out, as he grows older. Maybe I was a little harsh with his past playoff performances, but he's not the one to lead us by any mean, more of a secondary scorer. I'd prefer a top notch goalie and do away with the stress that injury prone Hasek and average Osgood would give us in the playoffs.

lol, too many Ozzie fans on this board. Honestly, I'm a huge Wings fan, been one for longer then your probably old, but Ozzie is not as good as our team makes him out to be. He's played for Detroit the majority of his career and that's reflected in his stats. Put him in a Leaf uniform and he's just like Raycroft, good with a half decent team in front of him, minor league material with a sub-par team. ps. Howard should start Friday, Osgood needs to ride the bench and remember where he belongs. The only reason Osgood is starting is because Hasek is injured.

lol OsGOD, all open to opinion my friend. Hasek at one time was one of the best in the league, but no longer in his prime and is prone to injury, hence his salary, can't argue with that. When the wings Off and Def dominates games, allowest the fewest shots and scoring chances then any other team while combining the most scoring chances, I expect our goalie to stop the one or two they face compared to like 15 the other teams stops. Playoffs is different ballgame. For example, Kipper stops 40+ and Wings goalie 15. Who should win? Exactly, but how often in the past have we been burnt in the playoffs by a Top Notch Goalie. All we need is a goalie who can make some big time saves, be consistent and stay Healthy. Osgood is not the answer and Hasek is injury prone. We can take the risk and hope for the best, that's what Holland is doing.

Hossa blows in the playoffs, we need a top notch goalie and some grit to take out some ducks and we're gold.

Osgood has lost three games in a row and is 3-4-1 with a 3.56 goals-against average and .870 save percentage during his past eight starts, during which he was pulled twice. If hasek goes down in the playoffs were toast. Osgood needs to know how to bounce back from a bad game. But then again he is a backup
