Top Notch Save by Howard, and the reason were still in it.

Think what you would like hall of fame harold, but Terry Sawchuk was the last Top Notch Detroit Goalie to win a Vezina. We certainly can't fit such a goalie under a cap and keep the rest of our team as well, but Ozzie and Hasek at his current age are good average goalies looking all-star caliber in front of one of the best Wings team ever as our current season is reflecting. We have a great offence and solid D, proof by the amount of shots we take per game and fewest we let up!!!!!!!! True Hockey analysts use this stat as the number indicator of a great TEAM! Not goalie, Team! Our Team makes our goalies look great! They're average! Put a top notch goalie in there and were UNSTOPPABLE.

Our goalies don't make enough big saves and there not asked for much considering Detroit allows the fewest shots in the league. ps. Howard looking good, dump Osgood and go with Hasek for playoffs and then get a top notch goalie for next year with Howard backing him up.

The difference, exactly. Big time saves, what we're missing way to often.

Mason has been the difference tonight, two more glorious saves. How many times does this need to be said in a Wings game! When we lose, this is why, when we win it's because of our players, never because our goalie stopped 40 and was magnificent!

About time too, they've been doing nothing lately.

Save percentages, against what, shots from the blueline, lol. Watch the leaf game Saturday? Wings marginally outshot the leafs, but the solid chances we had waaay out numbered the leafs. Toskala robbed us numerous times. The saves our goalies are required to make on a consistent basis are much less quality then our goalies and less shots, thus giving them the best looking stats. When was the last Vezina given to a Wings goalie? WHEN??? Terry Sawchuk!!!!!!!! EXACTLY!!! Terry was a TOP NOTCH GOALIE!!! Sure Hasek won in his prime, but he's not any longer, he's just a good goalie now, no longer Top Notch! His Snowflakes are not the same anymore!!!

Let's talk more top notch goalies, like when they make saves which they had no right stopping, Osgood doesn't have many of these. Just good saves. Ya, he was hung to dry, but how many times is Toskala hung out by the maple leafs and robs players right and left! If our D breaks down once or twice in a game seven in playoffs I want my goalie to stop a couple of these plays where he's hung out to dry!

Your missing the point, maybe the 'Top Notch Goalie' doesn't stop that one, but the first one or possibly third let in he does. That makes it a different game. We have average ozzie and hasek not in his prime, which makes him a really good goalie when healthy and motivated to win. Keep talking GAA and we have two solid goalies, blah blah blah, when the Detroit Redwing players allow the fewest shots against their own goalie compared to any other team, your going to have average goalies with great GAA. Plain and simple.

Whether it's snowflake hasek against the leafs on saturday or average ozzie against the Ducks on Sunday, the goals against us would have been stopped by a Top Notch Goalie. Period, no arguments can be made against that. Forget the D, Toskala and Giggy made the difference!

What's happening is lack of a TOP NOTCH GOALIES to cover us when the defence falls apart. AND this is what you need in the playoffs when some players have a mental breakdown, a top notch goalie who can cover your tail. I still blame game 5 loss on this last playoffs against Anaheim.

Don't talk to me about Ozzie's past and Dom's past. Neither are in their prime and Ozzie is in my opinion the best backup in the league, but he's never made all the top notch saves like Giggy and other top goalies have made. 3-0. Bring on the playoffs, our goalies will be the end of us if Hasek can't play like he did last playoffs. And so far, he hasn't impressed me as much. Nevermind that Osgood has always had a solid team in front of him. If he doesn't, this is the stuff that happens like tonight and in the all-star game. Of all the goalies in the all-star game, he was the worse, because he shouldn't be there, the WINGS with their stellar play got him there.

We've been SPOILED!!! The core team has shown up most of the season, lately the haven't and because we don't have a TOP NOTCH GOALIE, this is what happens. PERIOD. It's going to happen, players can't give 100% all year, but we don't have the big star in net to save us! If we did, it would only be 1-0 at the most right now. We have good goalies, that's all, don't expect more.

The difference in all of the last couple games is we don't have the TOP NOTCH goalie to make the BIG Saves! Sure osgood and Hasek are good goalies, but there not a Toskala, Giggy, etc.

Nice Vid, great memories. Detroit vs Toronto is still the best rivalry of all time! I know not recently, but once they switch up the league again and we play them more the flame will be re-light!

YES YES YES!!! I've long said this before, why else does the regular season matter except for entertainment, building team chemistry and some home ice advantage. We need to be more like baseball and football and reward the teams that have stellar seasons! Forget the layoff blues, a solid team will perform and will be stronger with the fewer games they have to play. GET IT DONE BETTMAN!!! Anyone who disagrees needs to look at all the times we were tops in the league and got put out early. Props to OP, totally agree!!!

Is that because of salary cap? Because if Mats does leave TO, he will NOT be returning, that can be guaranteed and has been mentioned by several analysts. If we can get Mats to fit under Cap for next year, I would definitely not mind giving up a little more to get him and secure our playoff run. Mats loves TO, his family is there and so forth and he doesn't want to move. That said, if he has enough pressure from Cliff to leave, he won't be back.

Our defence had an off night and Osgood didn't respond, simple as that. Osgood is a solid backup goalie, and not a top tier one that can respond when his team's defence plays like crap. That's why he's our backup. When the wings D plays to 75% it's potential, Osgood will usually be good enough to get us the win.
