TWO 1-2 losses??? Two other 2-3 losses?? I'd say it was the LACK of scoring on our part. You are correct about the Ducks NOT lighting Detroit up part though. It was only a "Battle of goaltending" because we were underachieving and couldn't score goals despite the fact we had boatloads of talented offensive players. We aren't talking about a few 1 point losses, ALL of the ducks games were one point losses. Our first two losses to Calgary in 04... 1-2 and 2-3. So in the 4 losses to the Flames that year...we scored 5 goals. That is amazing for the talent we had eh?!?! Good thing that offense didn't show up this year.

The guy who could have won the cup for us if anyone bothered to score a goal in front of him. $700K for one year, FYI.

Knowing the recent history of our club with netminders is anyone REALLY suprised we did this?!?!? (meaning this over just bringing up Howard) If you are me thinks you haven't paid attention to how we do business. That said this was a great pick up. Kudos!

FINALLY A thread for me! I agree 100% with the goalie carousel thing, have been saying it for over 6 years. There is NO reason now for us to consider signing an elite tender when we already have one. Why would we even think about two. Now I'm not sure if the people who are saying "just bring up Howard and work with him, don't keep signing old/high priced goalies", have been paying attention to the Wings roster the past decade. That is WHAT WE DO. Our system doesn't seem to revolve around working with young goalies and bringining them up, hell our roster doesn't revolve around keeping a goalie around very long at all. (Hint, we should have kept Ozzie the entire time and ridden out the good/bad times. Saying you can look into the crystal ball and just dump a cup winning goalie to pick him up again when he is ready really doesn't make sense.) Cujo would be a nice fit as a back up, I agree he doesn't really have what it takes to take a starters spot. I'm just sad we didn't have the offense ahead of him when he played well enough to win it for us. Saying that I agree, we should keep Ozzie and work with Howard, but that just doesn't seem to be WHAT WE DO, and you can't really argue with the results can you?!?!

Here is another bit of "INSIGHT" from a Pens fan on the board... Has this idiot even been WATCHING the games??? ROFL I'm certain he didn't see games 1 & 2 when the Pens were blanked. On ESPN this morning Barry said he was interested in coaching again but he was not going to TB at this time. He said he was happy to stay put at ESPN. That's from the man himself, course who knows by the start of the season what will happen.

Stuff like this is kind of what I was trying to find out. Everyone joins up at a certain time, it's not a contest, I'm just curious to see who has been around that long. Hey guess what, I didn't watch the Wings in the 70's! I lived in St. Louis and went to see the Blues play in the Checkerdome. If someone tells me they watched before I did I'm not going to be insulted.

That's odd because when they called me to attend my 10 year class reunion I never found it insulting they didn't call me to attend a reunion for a class of people who graduated 5 years ahead of me...course that's just me...
