Goaltending and defense (or lack of) are the real reasons that all the top scorers are in the east.

While watching the NASN feed of the Phoenix game, they showed an interesting statistic during the commercials. Filppula is the third highest scoring Finn in the league. By my count he finished last season around 15th or 16th, so he's really improved this season.

I just don't think he needed to jump on him so violently. Pulling back a guy's shoulder works fine for scrums after a whistle. It should work for two non-fighting skill players.

It's really just silly all the good players that were left off this year's ballot and all the mediocre players in their place. Has there been a better goalie (statistically) in the east than Gerber? And what did Huet do to get on the ballot?

Does anyone else think the NHL did a poor job picking candidates? This year's theme shouldn't be "Vote for Rory." It should be "Vote for Patrick Kane, Martin Gerber, Tim Thomas, and other worthy players who were left off the ballot." They must have picked this before the season started and then added on a few players who were doing well. i.e. Modano should not be on the ballot...

I'll leave this one alone. But I will say that I'd be pushing the panic button too if my team had no offense to speak of, was already near last place and just lost two of its best defensemen for possibly the rest of the season. I feel bad for Canucks fans right now.

Am I the only one who doesn't find this funny? Those are awful freak injuries to Bieksa and Salo. Severed Achilles Tendon and Fractured Orbital Bone sound like two of the worst injuries possible.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but some teams that want to have colored shoulders on their white jerseys have to have a strip of white fabric where the reebok logo goes. I think it looks awful. See rbkedgeuniform.com, St Louis, Florida, Nashville, Colorado, Atlanta (Dark jersey). I can't imagine that that's the way they wanted their jerseys to look. But other teams seem to have been able to get around that. See Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose, Minnesota, Columbus, Boston, Montreal, New Jersey. Anyone know anything about this?
