That makes sense. Thank you very much.

Whenever they do interviews on Versus for the Red Wings, they always do them infront of a wall with a bunch of names on it in list fashion. If I remember, it's something like this: Red Kelly ... Alex Delvecchio Alex Delvecchio Alex Delvecchio Marcel Dionne Pavel Datsyuk Does anyone know what this is a list of? Because if it's anything based on hockey acheivement, then surely Yzerman and Fedorov would be on that list somewhere... Thanks for your help.

He also said that it's Holmstrom's fault cause his helmet fell off.
-
I think they say that because Detroit is one of the few teams NBC is willing to show during the regular season.
-
I can't understand why he would make all his players wear low numbers.

Bingo. This is exactly the way the NHL should look at discipline. In the first round Brad May put out Willie Mitchell for the rest of the series. May gets 1 game. Not exactly an eye-for-an-eye. I'm not sure exactly how it should work, but the disciplinary system should make the punishments fair. i.e. McLennan the backup goaltender who wasn't going to play anyway would not have been fair retribution no matter how many games he got if he had seriously injured Franzen.

The problem with calling intent to injure is that it's an automatic match penalty, which means that Pronger would be automatically suspended until a hearing is arranged. That's a tough call for a ref to make when he doesn't have the luxury of a replay. Better just to let the league handle it.

Since period 2 of game 2, the Red Wings have been playing as good or better than the ducks. Like the Borg (star trek reference), it's just a matter of time until Mike Babcock and the Red Wings adapt to whatever they are facing. The Red Wings are now capable of beating the ducks anytime they're willing to give the effort (which will definitely include tonight).
-
I thought that at first too, but watching the replay, I think Neidermayer was closing too fast for him to get to the forehand and get a good shot away. I'm confident that he made the right play.
-
So, Corey Perry... Pretty much the toughest player in the whole league. "Tell Samuelsson he's gonna get it. Pavel, tell Samuelsson he's going to get it. You're going to get it too Pavel." It reminded me so much of the Alltell commercial with the nerds trying to talk tough.

I think the media is confident in the ducks because they're slow to catch onto trends. Until the bitter end Versus was pimping Joe Thornton and San Jose's offense. I think they still haven't caught onto the fact that the Red Wings's physical play could be a problem for Anaheim too. The fans are confident for the same reason we are. They've seen their team succeed and have no reason to assume the same thing won't happen in the next round.

Perhaps this is the venue: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QzAGd0WonYk

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0303/1128/rss16 I can understand tradition and nostalgia, but just because you're an original six team doesn't mean you get an automatic playoff berth. And it's not like we didn't make rules to specifically keep them out. They didn't earn it. Maybe you shouldn't be placing the blame on the league. The franchises are the ones who didn't earn it.

I feel I owe the hockey world a service since I own the 1998 Stanley Cup video, so I created the Ron Wilson Highlights from Game 2 of the stanley cup finals: With the sharks facing elimination, maybe we'll have another one of his famous motivational speeches?

Sharks Weakness: can't avoid turning over the puck after being hit.

Well, Dom let in 1 goal he probably could have had (he almost had it with his glove). I'm even more confident in him now. When was the last time you saw Dom give up a goal he should have had and not recover from it?

This game was torture for me. I tried to watch as much of it as possible but managed to miss all the goals. I had to go to a fancy long lunch for my grandparents's 50th anniversary that started at 3:00. I finally got back during the 2nd intermission and got to at least check the score, but right when they dropped the puck, I got called out to have my picture taken over and over again. When I came back in again, it was 2-2. I got to watch for about a minute, until my Grandma decided to open her gifts. Well she's the kind of person who reads every card out loud and tells a story about each one. So I finally got back to the TV to find the Wings congratulating Hasek. Does anyone know how to watch the CBC archived version if you're not in Canada?

Great series. Frustrating at times. But notes to Flames management: 1. Hire a better coach. This Calgary team has proven it can play at a high level (see Detroit Offense shut-downs at the end of games 3 and 4), and with a more experienced coach they could be contending for their division. 2. Keep Kiprusoff (at all costs). Maybe his defensemen left him out to dry during the regular season? But he looked Vezina quality and was the only reason the series went to 6 and didn't have games ending at 6 or 7 to 1.

I knew about this earlier in the season and I watched the Cup winning '97 game. But for a time, you had to pay for this service. I hope it stays this way. This is a great resource.

How old is Filppula? On TV, they keep saying he's 19, but in his profile, it says he was born in 1984.

I just found this and thought it was interesting, because no one knew who Henrik Zetterberg was yet. http://hockeysfuture.com/articles/69

I think the current disparity in prospect talent is due to the fact that the cap was only recently introduced. With the league being so much closer, I think it won't be long until these things sort themselves out. I don't think we'll see many top caliber teams like Anaheim or Pittsburg having significantly better prospects than mediocre teams.

I think a lot of people are overanalyzing this. It's just a thing that the crowd does. When everyone around you is doing something, it's fun to do the same thing. At Yost, we call people some pretty bad names, but it doesn't mean that we actually have a personal grudge against every opposing player who goes to the penalty box. It's just something that the crowd does. Personally I can sympathize with people who booed him the first few times, but now it's just a tradition. Most people have all but forgotten any grudges and are just playing along.
