to clarify, I never said either player sucks, I only said that we have Dmac, and Shanny is better than Dmac, so if the team could, why not trade in Dmac for Shanny?

I agree that Holland gave him a chance to redeem himself, but was it necessary to bring him all the way up? Was JLA sold out the 5 games before Dmac's return? How about the game of his return? What physical presence? All I saw him do was skate blue line to blue line and take penalties. I love the guy but he looked lost out there, even when he did play in the plaoffs. I think that they said that sammy would eventually put up 50+ points too. Things happen, the guy doesn't work as hard the following summer, loses focus, etc. Shanny playing solid defence is part of the different role, and team that he would be coming into. You keep saying he cant skate, but he is a better skater than Dmac. I think he adds much more to the team than Dmac.

He has to prove to himself just as much as the fans and the writers.

The young guns have shown signs of greatness, but nothing has happened yet. If Babs thinks that Huds is going to score 82 point next year then great! move him up and give shanny his spot on 4th line. Why do you think the they let Dmac play? If DMac was anything but a publicity stunt than he would have dressed in the finals. Shanny is a much better than DMac. Fans ARE[\b] the income for the team. I am positive that the team cares what the fans want. Why advertize, or even let fans into the games if they don't matter?

The Russians started coming over because it was a great league, and they didn't want to live in a communist state. The other leagues don't have the market that the NHL does. Russia may have more people, but they for the majority poor. Much like the MLS they aren't going to be able to pay more than a few players that kind of money to lure them away from not only the NHL, but the freedom that the US allows them. As others have said, why did he take a $2mil paycut to come to the NHL if he doesn't want to compete? If he left now he would not get a chance to prove to all the doubters that he can handle the pressure of the SCF and win a cup.

capability isn't results. The team missing players? what? The team doesn't miss anyone, they just won the cup. Fans miss players. Yes it is academic, but I think that if shanny were to return he would be in a much different role. A support player versus a star player of the late 90's

I am a soccer player, and as we all know the european leagues are head and shoulders above the MLS (US soccer). I would definetly go over there for $8mil even if the MLS was going to pay me $12mil. Its better soccer, and any self respecting athlete wants to compete at the highest level possible.

Shanny- before you all go crazy, he said he left because the team was changing, and he wasn't part of the solution. He was still being relied on heavily for scoring and leadership. Now that it has been a few years, he would be a great addition to second/third line. He still fights, and put up nearly 50 points last season. Plus it would bring some more fans in for the regular season games, much like bringing DMac back did. He makes 2.5 mil which isn't bad for what he brings to the table

We need a doctor in here to give an educated response to which is worse. I can't see either of them being much fun to go through.
