I don't like the guy between the benches. How distracting to have this guy yapping at you and then you are expected to talk to him DURING THE GAME! It is like my hubby said today... he is just waiting for the guy to ask Cheli how it feels to be scored on, just so Cheli will tell him "How in the hell do you think it feels" or something along those salty lines....
-
Oh God... I thought I was going to pee my pants! That was tooo funny! Thanks for sharing!
-
God Hank... do you have a heart? I did not know that guy from Adam. Who knows what his personal life was... but his family still did not have him there to provide. EDIT: Correct me if I am wrong, but Darren was SOBER when he when he formed the band Grinder.
-
I have not seen Grinder, but I have seen Nova Driver. I like that band.... add Darren and you have Grinder...
-
You guys 'kinda" feel sorry for Mac? Geez! Have you no heart! I totally feel sorry for Mac! I saw a photo and he looked a hundred years old. I think that all of the crap and being traded really took a toll....

Is anyone playing the Quest for the Cup game? If so, lets help each other out and trade! I have been watching for the tv code... did not see it. Anyone catch it?

My husband and I are going round and round about Bert playing still in the league after he hit Moore and ended his career. He states that he deliberately choose to sucker punch someone and ended their career. I stated that while I don't like what happened, it did and Bert has paid his dues. My hubby thinks that he should have retired and never played again; I say that it is no different than a hit from behind that hurt someone. Does anyone have any stats about career ending injuries on the ice due to hits? He did not intend to deliberately cripple the guy, it happened... help?? Thoughts?

I am back... and NOT the hubby. Thanks for the debate. I had used the same examples of speeding or running a red light. I used boarding and used Emory with his slash in the guys face a couple weeks ago. I suppose you won't ever change some minds. I personally think that Bert has earned some forgiveness. I hope it all goes well. I sure remember when we HATED Brett Hull, and Chelios, and Hatcher, but boy were we glad they were on the home team!! (well, maybe not Hatch, as that did not work out too well!!)

Wouldn't it make you re-evaluate your life, your plan for getting what you want, and the things you've done to get there? Worst arguement ever.
-
Look, it's pretty simple(to me) I cripple a guy, take away his livelihood, or (arguably) greatly hinder his chances, for what it's worth, to earn a living, and I figure the guilt alone would f*** up my ability to play the game at the level it deserves. Right?
-
OK, let's clear a few things up here. I'm Vladyfan's husband, I'm the guy that made all this s*** happen: My point: If I were the guy, that crippled another guy, AS A DIRECT FUGGIN' RESULT OF BREAKING THE GOD DAMN RULES, I don't know if I could continue to skate professionally. That's pretty simple to understand, right? I would like to believe that I would have enough integrity to walk away from the game. I should not be out there skating around enjoying myself. I should not be able to earn a living playing a game. It should affect me to the point where I quit the game, at least to the point until the other guy is able to come back. Doesn't matter if he's a ham and egger, or a first line starter. I crippled a guy, through my own disregard for the rules. Please don't dredge up any stupid arguement about Moore not wanting to fight. He cheap-shotted him, from behind, and it did not work out for the best. Bottom line: Intention to f*** with someone= serious injury. How can you defend that? But hey, that's just me.
-
Great point, SW Fan...I really was not trying to bash Bert again. I am the one who was defending him. I just wanted to get some other hockey examples of things against the rules that players should not do that could go wrong. I used the hitting from behind example... what if that ends a career? Thanks for the imput.

I guess, other than the guilt of what you have done, is this different than a hit from behind? A hit on a concussion prone player on purpose?
-
I thought that the Wings were playing a little more nasty as well. I saw Kronwall level a guy (sorry, forgot who) in the Edmonton game and Cheli elbowed another last night. I think that they are hitting a little more.

I am still confused. Is he coming back or not..??

Straka, Hossa guide Rangers, with lift from Shanahan, past Blackhawks Feb. 18, 2007 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports NEW YORK -- Brendan Shanahan made his mark on the latest New York Rangers' win without even lacing up a skate. A simple hello in the dressing room when none of his teammates expected to see him lit the fuse Sunday and provided a lift in a 2-1 victory Sunday over the Chicago Blackhawks. "It didn't hurt, that's for sure," coach Tom Renney said of Shanahan's impromptu visit. "It was good to see him standing up." The last time the Rangers saw Shanahan he was strapped to a back board with a brace around his neck, being wheeled out of Madison Square Garden on a stretcher. Shanahan was released from the hospital Sunday after spending the night under observation for a concussion. The 38-year-old forward was knocked unconscious Saturday during a 5-3 home loss to Philadelphia after colliding hard with Flyers forward Mike Knuble. Tests didn't reveal neurological damage, and Shanahan doesn't have any other serious injuries beyond the concussion and general aches and pains. It is unknown how long he will be sidelined, but he won't play for at least a week. That didn't stop him from taking a detour to see the Rangers about an hour before the first puck dropped. "It was pretty inspirational to see him come when he is supposed to go right home and just rest," said Matt Cullen, who assisted on Marcel Hossa's goal. "For him to go out of his way and do that shows how much he cares. "It was really impressive." And the message was simple. Shanahan wanted his teammates to know he was thinking about them. He gave them good luck wishes and expressed his desire to rejoin them quickly. "He said thank you for all the phone calls he got from the guys, but he didn't remember who called," said Henrik Lundqvist, who made 21 saves. "It was just good to see him smiling." Martin Straka and Hossa scored 10 minutes apart

NBC just reported that when he was released, he made his wife take him to MSG before going home.

I did not mean to slight Cheli in the least by saying who would want him.... just being realistic. Unless the Wings were dumb enough to NOT sign him, and he decided to play elsewhere (don't see that happening), who would want to trade for him? He brings leadership to the ice, but I can't see anyone calling Holland and saying we want him...
-
Knuble, Shanny, Ward and Avery... all on the ice at the same time. Former Wings. I hope Mike is ok too... he is a stand up guy despite playing for the Goons.
-
Chelios? What? Honestly, I love the guy. He is a horse and should retire a Wing. But, seriously, who would want him, and honestly, what would be the point? He does not make much and brings so much to the table... why would you even mention him?
-
Lets hope to God that Shanny is ok and not out for a while. I just heard a sucking sound.... I am afraid the Rangers will not be able to over come this....

WHAT??? For who??? On the night on which they heard that Peter Forsberg was dealt to Nashville for a whopping price in young players and draft picks, the Rangers continued to look like a team that no longer might be desperate to acquire another center by the Feb. 27 trade deadline. But with word coming out of Detroit that Manhattan product and ex-Blueshirt Mathieu Schneider is available, the Rangers still need help on defense. And that was reinforced when the troubled Karel Rachunek-Aaron Ward defense pair yielded a two-on-one goal to Andrew Ladd with 30 seconds left in a first period largely controlled by the Rangers.
