this was prior to signing drury... anything is possible. one can dream.

    Anyone else dissapointed?

those two deals in nyc could open the doors for shanny to come home instead of signing bert. i'm just sayin...

i would take shanny back in a flash before i decided to re-sign bert. i like bert but he's no brendan, nor will he be. let's hope these two blockbuster signings in nyc prompt the red wings brass to offer shanny a homecoming.

nope, i feel just fine actually.

    Anyone else dissapointed?

couple things... thank GOD we're seemingly out of the smyth running. as has already been noted, this is FAR from over... kenny has a way of taking his deals to the eleventh hour.

    Rangers sign Scott Gomez

are you kidding me? i know you're not because it's confirmed but seriously... the rangers must have bank, and that all but confirms that nylander and shanahan are on their way out (one can hope).

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

very classy move on his part... this might be what it takes for me to feel better and bridge the gap of 1M i didn't want the wings brass to spend. no doubt rafalski is going to address a need we've had for awhile, perhaps 6M per isn't all that different than 5M per (if it breaks down evenly each year of his contract) when all is said and done. people bring up a real good point, the flyers and the market in general really forced the issue for high stake salaries. i feel confident this is a great long term investment. *edited, accidentally placed 6M isn't different than 6M, instead of 5M

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

imo, meech doesn't make the cut. quincey and kindl will fill in nicely in time.

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

quincey i know, i know... not straight across the board but use what you have, give the kid more of a chance. he was a pistol in the post season and is sure to get even better over the summer.

What do the Wings do with the money they have left?

sign hasek and bert. bert is as close to being done as possible without being official. fox sports detroit said (as has already been noted) the only real hangup is term (not money). kenny is looking for a shorter contract with incentives, bert reportedly won't sign for anything less than 3 years. hasek (i assume) is going to take a little while longer. my guess is it will be for around 2M plus incentives.

    Hudler to Russia?

    no harm, no foul.

    Rafalski a Red Wing: 5-years, $30-million

i'm excited about this pickup but i'm hard pressed to understand how people could say that 30M over 5 isn't overpaying. we obviously have not seen the end of the unexpected.

    Detroit Pistons Season Thread

clearly dumars is (has been all year) interested in drafting more defense and strength in the back-court. stuckey is the right guy if you look at it that way. there's no way nick young is going to push stuckey around. on the other hand, young is a phenom with MAD talent so i'm just hoping this pick doesn't come back to haunt dumars and the pistons. i trust joe d knows what he's doing, regardless of the past drafts track record. he needs players that can play TODAY and not be viewed as projects, he may have gotten just that with 2 of his 3 picks. i have no idea who that guard out of depaul is but i'm sure his name wasn't just picked out of a cereal box.

    Bigger Nets?

    no thanks.

Wings Want to Re-sign Bert Before Free Agency

2M with incentives sounds fair. anything more and i believe we are being played. bert is worth ALL 2M plus bonuses we'd pay him. let's get it done.

    Dallas Drake on waivers

    i'll pass.

    If Schneider signs elsewhere...

perhaps a better heading would be WHEN schneider signs elsewhere... i say you go with what you have. we need to be careful about what we spend, especially considering that we need to be poised in a few years to make hank a wing forever. quincey was amazing in the playoffs, kindl has all kinds of upside, and as has been mentioned several times over in these threads... the UFA is out of hand, people are sick in the head with their salary demands.

Holland: Hard desicions must be made.

maltby plays for peanuts. he's one of the best bargains on our club. for me, you take hasek and bert. leave schneider to his greed with some other team. i'm not all that concerned about replacing markov.

Hasek expected to sign by end of week.

so are you actually saying to pass on smyth and sign fedorov instead? are you serious?
