congratulations to the entire anaheim organization.

sounds like we have a lot of drama queens/kings around these parts now. lighten up people. congratulations to anaheim for weathering the storm and taking home hockey's coveted prize.

who should Detroit target the most in free agency?

as far as hartnell goes... i just want elshupacabra to post anything after this post so i can get that fleeting glimpse of fischer absolutely OWNING hartnell back in 2003... classic! for the right price, hartnell is an asset... it's just that hit makes me laugh every time i hear his name. -
definitely mark mowers. he can do it all.
-
if we're lucky enough for it to be at comerica... i'm there!

not looking to highjack a thread but what exactly is your idea of soft and lazy? 29 goals and 33 assists, not to mention a tremendous impact in areas of the game that don't make the stat sheet... we miss shanahan, bottom line.

chris drury or scott gomez at the right price. i do like kozlov, depends on what we'd have to give for him. -
it amazes me how so many people must point out that the wings "beat themselves" instead of actually admitting that they were outplayed. every team in this league has setbacks or times where they're not able to bring it, regardless... anaheim won the series and a lot of wings fans here need to stop making excuses. i also wish we would have observed our wings faithful hoisting the cup this june but they fell short, in addition to meeting a streaking team that played with purpose and determination. congratulations to anaheim for making it as far as they have. if ottawa doesn't start matching their intensity, it'll be a long summer for them, as it has already been for us. i'm hoping ottawa can stage a return to form and draw this out to 7, at least make it interesting.

there are several ways one could argue the semantics of "best" but i prefer to keep it simple. the best team hoists the cup at the end of the playoffs.

no thanks... i, too, will pass.

be honest, am i the only one who thought this thread was about aaron ward?
-
we'll agree to disagree... i see him having an increased impact whether he stays or leaves.

i can't think of many reasons i wouldn't want souray. 64 pt dman w/ a LOT of upside... works for me. he's coming off a big year, i believe his best yet... and he was out for awhile with a small shoulder injury. he's expensive though... the habs will try to match the agents counter, at least they should. he's a major power play presence... we need that.
-
wish we could afford him... not likely, at least not without a lot of moves.
-
even so... that's one significant investment.

ZDH - seriously, you're wearing out your welcome awfully fast. talk hockey, leave the insults to people who are looking to get suspended/banned.

great post... i'll take an oatmeal raisin one hot from the oven. the only thing i have to say is NO EDDIE BELFOUR... the guy's a train wreck. -
samsonov would not come cheap. i've been awaiting his return (played for vipers of defunct IHL) for years. he looks so natural each year in training camp, skating with the wings... he would come with a hefty pricetag.

i agree that getzlaf had his fair share of cheap shots but seriously... with all due respect (and i mean that), why is it so difficult for you to admit that we were beaten? i'm equally distraught by the loss but the playoffs (as you know) are all about strange bounces of the puck, ugly goals, both teams struggling to find their game, desperation, etc... all of which led to our boys from motor city being given a premature ride home. they had an amazing season. personally, their success is tainted when i see people like you (whom i respect) continually shining light on how they beat themselves. they gave what they had to give and unfortunately came up a little short. another team walked away victors, of which they had a significant role in achieving themselves... the series was not handed to anyone. both teams played their hearts out, both teams deserved to win. congratulations to the ducks (not phucks) for rising to the occasion. the wings will return, and you better believe anaheim and their fans know that. sorry for hijacking the original thread, which is why i wanted to comment on that as well. getzlaf does NOT deserve the mvp more than JSG. the netminder is the biggest reason the ducks have been fortunate to find themselves in the SCF, period.

maltby came real cheap, and i could definitely see us receiving the better side of those 3 years. i'm happy with the extension.
-
JSG was the better goalie, he wins the conn smythe. no contest. we made key mistakes but let's give the opponent credit when we're beaten.
-
this is a no brainer, i'd take kozlov over lang any day.

this made me laugh... good one... i didn't say a thing about truth or lie... i made a statement about how he jumped out of his skin to "clear things up" didn't seem necessary, imo. you just continue playing the antagonist role, i'm ok with what i said.

sure, but (as has been mentioned) he won't come back to detroit. new york can keep him.
