if that is how one gets their big payday, so be it. i'm grateful for any efforts by hudler that helped secure a championship but i'm not anxious or really all that concerned about his departure. moving along... i trust holland and this organization to make the right decisions and respond accordingly.

as has been said, and really all the explanation necessary... consistency. he doesn't have it, yet.

Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?
spydrwebb replied to titanium2's topic in General
williams has promise... remember seeing him shine at times with the marlies. each time he was called up, he was clutch. good addition to grand rapids. -
easy come, easy go. good luck to him in enemy territory.

and this has relevance to my post how? you quoted me so you must think that it does. please elaborate.

ville signed and rasheed to the celtics... today is a good day.

best wishes to sammy and his family, and their new start in vancouver. at 2.5M/yr, i'm thrilled for his payday to have landed on another team's checkbook.

Wings will re-sign Leino to a 2-year deal
spydrwebb replied to Hey Hey Hockeytown!'s topic in General
i'm with holland in that this really is simple math. if sammy or hudler demand more than 1.5 or 2.5 respectively, let them walk. one can be replaced through free agency and the other doesn't need to be because there's kids waiting in the balance in grand rapids that deserve the roster spot. its really not as complicated as some are making it out to be. and... its not as though rosters need to be in place by the end of the week. let traverse city give you the best picture of who's ready and ice the one(s) that pass the test and give the team the best chance to win. -
heatley is selfish, bottom line.

no, thanks. i don't hate or even strongly dislike hudler. i have seen him lose countless battles in the corners, where he's easily pushed off the puck. i have seen his speed overshadowed by rushing plays, forcing the issue and often turning over the puck. he's been clutch at times but if his contract impedes progress in signing another veteran free agent or young prospect, it's not a trade-off that i favor. he also doesn't have natural chemistry with any of the line mates for which he's been a part. makes sense to at least look elsewhere first. it would be good for hudler to earn a higher paid longer term deal with another franchise. should that happen, i wish him the best.

congrats to hossa for landing a long-term big money deal. i appreciate his efforts in detroit and look forward to competitive match-ups in the forthcoming chi-det rivarly, as it now has even more steam behind it than before. they can have kopecky. i understand hossa wanted him there. good for both of them. now, kenny waits patiently as other GMs overpay and he lands another gem of an acquisition. hopeful its laperriere, even with his storied life in colorado.

he doesn't back down from bigger guys... for whatever that's worth.

i'll pass but thanks for playing.

dejected? sure. reason to be? yes. excited for going deep into the playoffs yet another year, with a very close chance at defending the stanley cup? absolutely. there's no other organization like the detroit red wings. let the moves and preparation begin for another run in 09/10.

hat removed out of respect for another great season. look forward to traverse city in a few months.

congratulations, indeed. enjoy this summer while you're able... you will now know what it's like to have the biggest target in the league on your back. well deserved but training camp onward takes on a completely different perspective. good luck defending the title. see you next year. ~DRW faithful
