2008-2009 NBA Season Thread (Pistons trade for Allen Iverson)
spydrwebb replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
hopefully not but three more games like the one yesterday would certainly flesh out your prediction. i know its not ever a good idea to will your team out of the playoffs but i actually was hoping we missed them altogether, leaving better draft lottery possibilities. this year's team has a slim chance of making it out of any 7 game series, unfortunately. -
looking at the schedule for 09/10, the lions' chances of winning 6 games are at least favorable. i believe they're capable of that and more but i'm going to step out on faith that this new staff and the attitude they bring will amount to at least 6 victories. that would be a stellar improvement from the dismal 08/09 campaign. this would also lead to good draft position, leaving them in familiar territory and within striking distance to a better quarterback than what this year's crop offers. here's hoping the lions pass on stafford and address the OL before anything else.

inge's off-season mechanics have really paid off thus far. i, for one, am jazzed to see his game coming together again. he deserves the pay off for all the hard work that he turns in prior to and following the game. he voluntarily reported several weeks before training camp began, specifically to correct things that went wrong last season. say what you want to about brandon but i believe his work ethic and heart bear no criticism. can't wait when zumaya is 100% and rodney is consistent. the latter is less likely but one can hope he regains even a fraction of his previous brilliance.

pretending to be something you/they are not is just lame. speak directly, don't hide behind some shallow sarcastic facade. to answer your question... it's obvious what they (and perhaps you) are saying but the concept is overplayed and pointless.

i'm not into PDA so do you mind taking your man love for shoreline to a private room. please and thank you.

the 4.5 minute solo of which you speak can only be described with very few words, one of which is napalm... another would be epic. so as to not hijack the thread, where are all the ozzie haters now? i think i hear crickets.

guess my pre-series prediction of griffins in 6 isn't looking as crazy as some might have thought... although, i know just as well as anyone that hamilton is capable of turning the tables and coming out as victors. let's hope grand rapids can stave them off another few games and get some rest before the 2nd round.

you are clearly an enigma... no other explanation.
-
yeah, because they haven't already won twice, making it impossible to lose without at least a sixth game... and by the way, go back to your hole. wings in 5.

shaving clean just prior to round 1 - game 1... is the only way to legitimately contend. any growth prior to thursday morning is considered a head start and should not be viewed equal. this is pulled from an NHL documentary so as to keep the rules plain and clear and provide a fair experience for all who participate, if anyone cares. may the best jaw-fro take the title!

players shave clean after the morning skate around, prior to round 1 - game 1. anyone legitimately in contention of the best playoff beard should do the same.

they say opinions are like assh*les, we all have them... while i respect your opinion... i respectfully decided you're an ass. not to mention the fact that your claim is empty, even if it were appropriate for you to make the comment you did... neither picture in this thread is even remotely out of order. you obviously prefer your ladies to shave their arms as well, or at least i can only imagine b/c if you think those arms are hairy... you clearly need to get out more. have some class.
-
no offense but what makes you believe that franzen and his agent would accept your proposed cap hit? i suspect kenny received his player for as little as he was willing to accept, just my opinion.
-
the other team, regardless of who they are, had better come equally prepared.
-
so detroit could see them... that simple. for those that didn't make the drive/trip to chicago, they haven't seen the jerseys on their team... until now.

if the shape of this contract is what was necessary to keep hossa, i'm ALL for it. if not, i'm not against it but i need a few years to determine the ROI. perhaps the wings should grandfather in the tigers motto now that it is becoming even more relevant to their organization - always a red wing (always a tiger) holland was just on fox detroit speaking about the inevitable moving of some players to keep hossa, if they're able to do it. his take was that they were going to lose some guys regardless and they feel they made a decision to lock up an already proven player... for longer term than they would have preferred but an exchange he was happy to make so that the cap hit could be where he/illitch need it to be. whatever the case, i believe in kenny.
-
i saw that as well, and the FSN season preview... both agreed on the same points. leyland will be safe only after the tigers get off to a respectable start. i favor the moves made thus far and look forward to zumaya returning at 100% soon.
-
yeah, i'm obviously none too pleased with the results. there was NO jump against AF and little sign of life against ND. the good news is red will be back and he'll deliver another impressive effort. go blue!

well done, matt... thanks. even if there are few changes forthcoming and the fact that its only a logo and not a heart transplant, its indicative of what i expect with the new staff and players... MORE FIGHT. amen.
