Babcock doesn't think he battles hard enough on a consistent basis. That's what he needs to do and the points will come. For sure at this point he's also squeezing his stick too hard.

He definitely needs those points for his confidence but when you only think about the points you start cheating at the little things and that doesn't do you nor the team any good. I think that's something he needs to get his head around.

Nylander really comes in handy with all these injuries & call-ups.

This recent surge has lifted the Wings to within 6 points of the conference lead (4 if they manage to win in Dallas). It's incredibly close in the West all around, all teams are within 14 points.

He's 25 but still definitely has time to develop. And yes defensemen tend to hit their prime at early to mid 30s. Forwards probably a bit earlier.

I know, I wasn't being that serious. It's just that I'd rather give his minutes to someone who has more upside. He's fine as a 6th defenseman but he obviously isn't getting any better.

He could be replaced on defense by one of the extra forwards. Doesn't even matter who, he can't do any worse.

He probably wants to have that wrist at 100% before returning. He only just got the cast off and said the wrist is stiff, it takes some time to get it used to playing hockey again.

I don't know why but I'm not worried at all. This team knows what it takes to win and they're just too good to slip out of the playoffs. Not to mention they will soon be boosted by the return of some very key players. It's going to be alright.

It's a moot point anyway since Wings only scored twice in the final two SCF games combined, by Draper and Ericsson no less. There are no excuses for such production, especially after the 5-0 drubbing in game 5. The offense choked big time.
