Seems to be the typical deal for young players these days: relatively long-term and a bit overpriced but might turn out to be a fair or even good deal for Philly if Lupul lives up to his potential. But so far he hasn't been worth that kind of money.

So I just heard this in the news on Finnish TV channel "Nelonen" but I'm not sure where they got the information from. The anchorman just said that Leino is "close to signing a contract with the Red Wings" and they usually don't talk out of their asses, they must be onto something. I'm trying to find some more substantial information and valid sources but the report sounded pretty convincing. Anyway, we're talking about the second-leading scorer in the Finnish Elite League this season and he was a stud in the playoffs too before his team Jokerit Helsinki got knocked out in the second round. He was named the league's best player in the regular season. I think he's an interesting option to look at, a real team-first guy and a hard worker with decent skills and strength. Hate to say it but my team (England) didn't qualify. Hopefully they'll get their s*** together and avoid this kind of embarrassment in the future. Of course I was pulling for Finland too but they weren't even expected to make it, they came surprisingly close though. I don't really have a clear-cut favorite among the EC teams at the moment but I'm thinking Germany will win.
