Right on. We would lose Rex on waivers because he can't be sent down w/o clearing. I wonder if he'll become a trade bait at some point, Kopecky will also be back eventually fighting for a roster spot.

I'm so excited to see Bert play for the Wings. Good to hear him being so involved in the drills but like many of you already said, he needs to take his time and rather be "over-healthy" than rush things.

Good to hear Bert was very much involved in the drills in his first training and Babs was impressed.

This is my first time picking, hoping for a solid start! Cross doesn't equal Calder by any stretch of imagination. About the only thing in common will be this first shift and a goal thing. Cross was only acquired to provide depth whereas Calder is probably top-six material among our forwards. As for the Williams matter, Calder >>> Williams.

Just thinking how funny Bert, Bob and Rex would look together. Two monsters and a dwarf.
-
That's awesome news and the only way it should be! Can't wait to see how Flip does there.
-
It should be officially banned to start any kind of threads based on Eklund rumors. Who knows how many people here have already gone crazy wondering what he makes up next. And those ratings are just ridiculous. e4, e5 my butt.

Oilers can pretty much kiss the playoffs goodbye now. For a few years.

the official "I am sorry for doubting you Mr. Holland thread"
FinWing replied to brutus's topic in General
This thread should become jammed with apologies pretty quickly! For myself, I never doubted Kenny and knew he would do the right thing. We didn't give up much and seem better geared for the playoffs. -
Please just let Bert stay healthy. A somewhat risky move but with possibly great rewards!
-
Talk about bringing a guy down! That's the kinda benching that suggests RETIRE.
-
Bash Holland = bash Nill, Devellano, Yzerman, Bowman and everyone else involved in the process. It is retarded to think Holland is doing everything by himself and all the other guys are just sitting on their asses having no contribution whatsoever. These guys will do the right thing for us.
-
For God's sake... where's the panic button again?
-
1st and a prospect?? Then they can have him, that's steep for someone who might never come good again.
-
If Holland pulls something like that he is quite the wizard!
-
To say the least! Not everyone gets it the first time.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal
FinWing replied to WingsFANstuckintheSOUTH's topic in General
Same here. All in all, Calder is a better player and will want to prove himself in a competitive team like ours. If he doesn't pan out, we can let him walk in the summer and Williams wasn't getting anything done here either. -
We could certainly use him and we should get him without giving up our 1st-rounders until 2010.

MacT couldn't stop whining even if his mouth was sewn shut.

Wings acquire Kyle Calder in 3-way deal

Yeah, in the Handzus trade. But is there a problem between him and the Hawks or something? Otherwise I can't see why they would trade him for Williams. They probably could have gotten more out of trading Calder. Not that I care or anything, I'm just curious as to why they traded for Williams. -

Why didn't Chicago just take Calder? Either they were on drugs or for some other reason in a self-destructive mode or there's some other aspect to this trade that we don't know about. Probably the last one because otherwise it doesn't seem like there are many sane GMs left. Either way, good job Kenny! Philly got a decent return for Calder, Kukkonen should do well especially with his old teammate Pitkanen in the fold. But we got rid of (some of) our junk and even got a sound player in return! -
Luckily it's nothing major. And even less so when HR40 gets to it. Please let Flip have his spot for at least a little while to see what he can do.

It's about time someone got pissed at his forecasts.

Kronwall. Markov can do the freight train on open ice quite nicely too.
