Don't forget the holy trinity: Willy + Lilly + pick for *insert good power forward* COME ON KENNY!!! Although I thought there has to be a catch if eva starts this kinda thread.
-
Haha! I was already thinking "omg not another trade speculation thread!"
-
Great! Let's hope our beloved Wings (especially Hank ) will score plenty for you. Have a blast!
-
Good post man! Talk about a lesson learned there. I'm so happy Danny was able to turn it around with us.
-
But it is more important to protect the eyes than nose or mouth.
-
This has a nice sound to it. How about "Eurotwins & Uncle Homer"?
-
Lang for Fedorov. Greg Johnson & Fisch make a comeback.
-
That would be the definition of 'pointless'. Teaching a dog how to speak would bear more fruit. May it always be them that are bitching about us and not the other way around.
-
Clearly it's the voice of envy and bitterness talking here.

I'd love to see Foppa here as well but the most glaring need of our team is a solid winger. Guerin rather than Nolan but both would be improvements. At least both of them have been healthy all season. Nolan would probably be a bit cheaper option though(?) But if we can get Foppa AND a winger even better!
-
That list looks alright to me, although I would also consider trading Rex now for a significantly helpful player (basically a top-six winger that is).
-
That was great! "What are you doin'?" Joe: "Mnmnothing"
-
I'm sure he understands the situation but he will not put the Wings' long-term future at risk just to get such a player(s) for a couple of seemingly better playoff runs.
-
I'll second that. There's not even room for debate about this.
-
The first goal sums it all up pretty well: not only did our guys give up a shorthanded breakaway, they couldn't even get to the ensuing rebound before another opponent. But I'm not overly disappointed or surprised, it's understandable that we were a step or two behind. Wins are hard to come by these days against a better-rested team and Philly are playing better lately. Their season was screwed up quite a while ago.

You can't compare the point totals of players from different eras. There was a lot more scoring back when Modano was a young player. That's basically like arguing that Crosby will never be in the same class with Mario or Wayne unless he puts up some 200-250 points during his best season. Z can be just as good a player as Modano (and better) without having equally impressive numbers. I think it's more about where you rank among your current peers (and not just in scoring). That's a more appropriate way to compare players than comparing past and current statistics. And yeah, Z is definitely no Yzerman and probably never will be. But I wouldn't label Crosby as another Lemieux either, at least yet. Exactly, that's why I was talking about a young Yzerman and a young Lemieux earlier. They hadn't reached their potential just like Z and Sid and co. haven't yet.

And Preds are supposed to be our main rivals nowadays. How can you create any kind of real, passionate rivalry with a team like that...
-
Very well said. I'm sick of our top players getting run over like that and nobody doing anything about it, time and time again. Opponents are gonna take full advantage of that come playoff time. At least we need that one tough winger who can make something happen. Otherwise I'll be pretty afraid of playoff hockey this spring.

No kidding, this really is pretty fun. I just think that some of our colleagues are getting tired of this but what the heck, why not go all the way while we're at it. You know what? I actually agree with you, at least to some extent. I don't think intangibles are more important than production and skills but they are a significant factor nevertheless and shouldn't be overlooked. I'm grateful to Drapes for all he's done but to tell the truth, I wouldn't mind seeing him gone sometime soon. I don't think he can offer us enough anymore and is not the same Drapes he was during the Cup years. And surely you think our Z will be better than Modano? Remains to be seen but I have faith. I wouldn't read too much into that kind of poll, not many repliers would have any idea of managing a team so they wouldn't know half the things that are involved in a trade. But that's just my opinion.
-
Well, some of us actually have that experience. Not that I've ever played for an organisation nearly as big as any NHL team but anyway. And about Drapes, sure he's a solid player and served us great but what upside does he have? He's seen his best years already. Will he have a jersey retirement here or be remembered as one of NHLs best players? (I think you agree Sid, Ovie and Z most likely will) However, why are we even debating? Obviously we can't agree on this no matter what. I see what you're saying but I don't like to look at things from such a simplistic perspective.
-
For the record, I didn't say anything like that. Those are your own exaggerations and propositions. Sure Wings have traded players but we're talking about the Yzermans and Zetterbergs, not just any players. You seriously can't claim that trading one of them would be just another trade. How can you create any team identity and cohesion if you get rid of your top players? Gimme a break. There's no way Wings would have been a Cup contender for such a long time unless they kept hold of their top players and created an environment of trust and stability. You talk like you have quite a bit experience of playing for a professional sports team. Both of you, I couldn't agree more. I don't get what's so hard to understand about this.

Just found this on detnews.com: Sounds kinda vague to me, what's going on? He can't seem to stay healthy at all. EDIT: Hockeycrazy, sorry for overlapping (and interminded too ).
-
The suspension is well-deserved but if someone came slashing one of our goalies like that, I'd love to see someone do something. Hasn't been happening much this season.
-
Just watching Foppa last night made me want him to join the Wings so much more, he's such a smooth and exceptional player. It would suck if he joined the Preds instead, although it would make somewhat more sense that he played for our rivals rather than for us. If we can get him and a strong top-six winger, there's no limit to how far we can go. Hopefully the scouts aren't stupid enough to base their decisions on just one game...
