Is Meech "waiveble"? If you replace Meech with McCarty in that lineup i would be really satisfied. All in all, thats a really nice looking lineup.. (I have nothing against Meech, just think that we need a little bit more edgy last player on the roster)

No, he's right, the alfredsson contract is a special case, since he had some kind of clause from his current contract i believe.. Anyways, Nashville got a contract rejected this way when they contracted Erat this summer, they had to renegotiate it before it went through.

I don't have much to back up with this, but i think many people will be surprised how low Z:s paycheck will be. I wouldn't be surprised if he took Datsyuk-money, below 7 mill cap hit. The only thing im basing this on is how humble and nice he is as a person. Im swedish, and have heard him on different occations say that the Red Wings is his team, won't play anywhere else hopefully. He speaks of it with such certainty, he seems to be really happy with his life here.

Chris Neil would be the ideal fit for this team, McCarty of old v2.0. Agitator, hitter, grinder, fighter and with a bit of a scoring touch. The best part is he could be an everyday player, not another Downey/McCarty of now (not that i dont like what they do and bring to the team!).. Anyone else on that list that have all those intagibles?

If the Quincey salary is correct, and NHLnumbers is correct, we are currently 1.24 mill above the cap. Lilja makes 1.25 mill. Need i say more? oh and btw, lebda cap hit = 0,650 mill, so it wont be enough to trade him only. Actually its only a marginal difference from guys like Quincey and Meech, so that wont help much at all.. My big question mark is how is assigning people to gr affect the cap hit? On NHLnumbers they are counting 13 forwards, 8 defencemen (im counting 9 with Quincey) and 2 goalies against the cap.. To me, it seems as there's no question that Lilja is the one that will be gone. the only other option i see is Samuelsson+Lebda gone, and replacing them with minimum wage players. That would also do the trick. (removing only samuelsson is not enough)

People want fighters for entertainment and retribution, atleast that what it seems like. It shines through a lot of the "pro-figthing" posters on this board. Sometimes people just hide their true reasons behind something else, and if you read through this thread you can see it oh so clearly! (I enjoy watching fighting, hitting games, and i think its an important part of the game) And i agree that Aaron Downey seems to be a really good fit to this team, if i had to chose i think i actually would take him over DMac at this point in time.

Came across an article in Aftonbladet, he says he is determined to compete for the backup job with Jimmy Howard next season. He also says that he will stay in america even if he has to play in the minors. He sees the progress of Erik Ersberg and thinks he should have an equal chance to make it to the big club (which i think he has, he's a better goalie with more potential than ersberg, for sure.)
