You are correct...its not a downtown area but it is a more pleasant area to be in. You are also correct about the price of gas for those of us who drive from the burbs. Where ever they end up is fine with me. Everyone will obviously favor what's most convenient for them. Never said the burbs were a walk in the park. I'm sure crime statistics would speak for themselves. Lets not forget why were here...to support our Wings. Not be critical of each other.

I respectfully disagree. There are several good restaurants in the area of the Palace. Its been successful for the Pistons for a long, long time. You don't have to worry about street beggars and there's less potential for your car to get broken into or stolen (I know of at least two occasions where this has happened to friends & family at events in Detroit). Don't get me wrong. I'm not "anti Detroit"...just being realistic.

I like the Palace idea for the new venue. I used to watch the Vipers play there. Great place for hockey!
