Stuart showed some promise at SJ, however since then he's been to BOS, CGY, LA and now bounced to us...that's a lot of teams willing to part with him in a very short time. *fingers (cory) crossed*

ok, i know this is kind of extreme, but I'll stand by it. How often has there been a second line without Samuelsson on it? It's always Flip, Sammy, Cleary or Huds, Sammy, Flip or Franz, Sammy, Flip.... my point is that ANY line that has Samuelsson on it will be unproductive. He's that bad. If Huds, Flip and Franzen/Cleary get solid 2nd line alone time w/o Sammy and they still don't produce I'll jump on the "dump 'em" bandwagon. Not until then.

sammy is terrible. That's well-established (although i saw him not screw up a couple times last night, which was encouraging) Lebda has great potential. He still lacks patience, and seeing one move ahead. Once he gets those he's going to blow your minds. (maybe they should move him to forward to work on his breakaways for a while)

True, thanks for clarifying that. But they were running out of room and so had to...oh wait, McCarty...meh

I've got it! they waived him to make room for Fabian Brunnstrom you heard it here first.

bah, we could've thrown him into the deal for Modry or Blake

hahaha ! I love it! thanks for posting that

I really like Ellis though. Blue collar, but he seems to get himself around the puck a lot, and make stuff happen. I was hoping to see more of him, not less. I don't think he got a fair shake (he got the Huddles treatment)

He meant he could put it on the stick of anyone in the crowd, and I think that kind of egotistical remark is just awful. /jk

For the first 58 games... Samuelsson 0.2008 (i.e. .2008 shots per minute of ice time) Hank 0.1999 Cleary 0.1606 Dats 0.1559 Franzen 0.1228 Homer 0.1135 Hudler 0.1130 Kopecky 0.1021 Nick 0.0948 Rafalski 0.0911 Ellis 0.0889 Draper 0.0879 Filppula 0.0877 Lebda 0.0871 Kronwall 0.0718 Maltby 0.0584 Chelios 0.0502 Lilja 0.0474 Drake 0.0468 Downey 0.0310 Meech 0.0247 Hartigan 0.0085 Filppula has shot less often than Draper (!) and Kopecky, and less than 2 D men. Having said that, I really like Filp, I think he'll be a dandy.

I keep hearing about how Babcock is preaching to shoot more. I keep yelling at Sammy to shoot less. This got me wondering who has the most shots per minute of ice time on average. I looked for a good stats site to help me out, but had no luck. CBS had one, but it sucked; you have to look thru the whole league and tally it manually. Anyone know of a good site for this? Found one...pretty obvious in retrospect: http://www.nhl.com/superstats/index.html

Don't send me to Chicago

Alright, fine. I'll do it myself. Sheesh, can't even be lazy around here. So here it is ! Through 58 games, according to ESPN, and my calculations, here are your average number of shots per average amount of time on the ice in minutes, in order of most to least: Samuelsson 0.2008 (i.e. .2 shots per minute of ice time) Hank 0.1999 Cleary 0.1606 Dats 0.1559 Franzen 0.1228 Homer 0.1135 Hudler 0.1130 Kopecky 0.1021 Nick 0.0948 Rafalski 0.0911 Ellis 0.0889 Draper 0.0879 Filppula 0.0877 Lebda 0.0871 Kronwall 0.0718 Maltby 0.0584 Chelios 0.0502 Lilja 0.0474 Drake 0.0468 Downey 0.0310 Meech 0.0247 Hartigan 0.0085 Shook out pretty much the way I'd expect it to. Cleary and Franzen a bit of a surprise. Nick lower than I'd have thought, but maybe Homer is tipping them all. oh, Flipper is low.

I've felt this way about Lilja at times myself (although not so much recently).
