Injury Update: Homer didn't make the trip

" Brett Lebda (ankle) is also out for Game 3. Lebda skated before Game 1 and said that was a setback. He hasn't skated since, but will try on Tuesday in San Jose." http://redwingscorner.blogspot.com/2007/04...m-san-jose.html

    Filppula, second line center?

Zetts-Dats-Cleary (yes, cleary. He's been our best player the last few) Filp - Bert - Mule Drapes - Malts -Sammy Huds - Lang - Calder Our 2nd and 4th lines would both be potentially dangerous, and puts a shooter on the third line Those lines win Saturday. Thanks goodness Babs reads this forum, and hangs on my every word.

    wings' struggles in long series

I think no1beats nailed it right on the head. The Wings need to go in thinking of themselves as a grinding, dump-and-chase, out-work and out-hustle type of team; then that will open up opportunities to engage in the fancy-dan type stuff. That way the play is less regimented, less predictable and becomes more organic. Then the WIngs will rule the universe, as it should be. /hyperbole-free zone

a disturbing stat for the wings since 2002

Watching the game last night I said "Remember back in the good old days, being down by a goal, late in the game, you KNEW they were going to score, and they knew they were going to score and the other team knew they were going to score, and most of the time they did." I really miss those days. (especially half-lit at 1:00 am on a work night )

    Lilja Fight Highlights

Sharp took his own helmet off, as I recall, which I thought wwas classy. I was a little disappointed that Lilja didn't return the gesture, but Lilja's new. His interview they showed was funny, about the Moen fight: "I didn't know he knew how to fight [sic]" Made me laugh.

Datsyuk Signs 7-year, $46.9M Contract Extension

    simply put.... WOOT !
  16. Not much news yet. This is the most recent I can find: The Wings played the game shorthanded after the first 24 seconds, when top-four defenseman Niklas Kronwall suffered a right hip injury after he was hit into the boards by Joel Lundqvist. It was a clean hit, but Kronwall got twisted up and left the game, grimacing in pain. Coach Mike Babcock said Kronwall was at the Detroit Medical Center overnight undergoing tests. - http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../1053&imw=Y Staying overnight sounds a bit ominous... Anyone else have news?

    Sergei Fedorov boos

Sergei leaves for selfish reasons = Boo Shanny leaves for selfless reasons = Cheer Plus, Detroit doesn't have anyone else to boo (and actually hate, for real), but once we do I predict Sergei's booing will abate. I also predict no arena will cheer louder for Sergei when it comes time to hang them up. /philospher non grata

    Igor Grigorenko

Grigorenko mentioned in an article. Sounds like we're in no hurry to get him over here as long as there's no IHF agreement signed. They'll let the Russians pay for his development, I imagine, since we won't lose the rights to him. March 16th: Wings general manager Ken Holland said he speaks to Mark Lapush, the agent for prospect Igor Grigorenko, on a weekly basis and has talked to him several times in the last few days. Grigorenko's contact with Russian Superleague club Lada Togliatti expires at the end of June and the Wings would like to sign the soon-to-be 24-year-old forward, their top selection in the 2001 entry draft (62nd overall), this summer. "I've had a lot of positive conversations with his agent,'' Holland said. "I'm hopeful and optimistic that he'll sign and play in North America next season, but I'm sure the Russian teams will make offers.'' Holland said the Wings hold Grigorenko's NHL rights indefinitely because there's still no transfer agreement between the league and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. Grigorenko, a 5-foot-10, 203-pound winger, is in his third full season after recovering from multiple fractures in his left leg sustained in a near-fatal car accident in May 2003. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/stories/inde....xml&coll=1

    Mikael Samuelsson

I don't think he's wimpy; I remember him getting chippy fairly often (and I'm always surprised by it). He's only been back 2 games, he hasn't gotten his timing back yet. Let's wait and bash him after a dozen games or so.

    Question

Zigmund Palffy-W- Penguins Jan. 18 - 12:28 pm et Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Ziggy Palffy has retired. On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins winger announced his retirement, effective immediately, due to personal reasons. "I have agreed on all matters related to my retirement with the Pittsburgh management," Palffy told a newspaper in his native Slovakia. "There is no point in suffering any longer." Palffy, 33, first injured his right shoulder in January 2004 when he was a member of the Los Angeles Kings. He twice had reconstructive surgery, but problems persisted. "I have talked to my doctor and he did not recommend a third operation," Palffy told the newspaper. Palffy had previously retired from the Slovak national team ahead of next month's Turin Olympics. Palffy owners will not be pleased with this decision as he still had 42 points in 42 games this season.

One of Mickey Redmond's best quote's ever!

Yep, Mick's tthe best. * and now gluten free ! * I think it's great that even Kenny still gets a kick out of him. From the Hawks game: "I think it sounds better Fil-POOL-ah" and (after Kalder's first shift first goal) "Send Kenny Holland to Vegas"
