I knew Bert was a bad-ass, but I didn't realize he caused cancer! Damn he's mean.

found this highly amusing... A2Y blog post (read comments)

Babcock was merciless with Huds; if he didn't produce immediately he'd be demoted to lower lines or riding pine (i.e. compare Hudler's treatment with Sammy's, who'd f*** up regularly, and yet continued to play minutes on the PP and top two lines). I hope Babs learned a lesson about pushing players too hard.

NOT AT ANY PRICE ! Williams, then Lang, then Sammy, and now back to Williams? I'm sure we can find a new goat without paying to rehash an old one. gawdammit, I think my summer just went poop.

I am so glad he's gone. Wish him well.

Kenny should save our cap space until the trade deadline
58Miles2Joe replied to hckypete96's topic in General
I'm sure Kenny's thinking about saving at least a million for the deadline. He's always done that, except when we had the chance to get Hossa. -
I say we pay him just to stop sticking his tongue out in the goalie's face. Gawd that just creeps me out.

With my luck, they'll finally get rid of Samuelson and turn around and sign Jay Willy and The Enigma again.

Sammy always gets playing time no matter how out of sync he is with the rest of the team, but if Huds makes the one mistake he rides pine. If it comes down to Sammy or Huds, Babs will lobby for Sammy. That may not be the only factor, but it'll enter into it. If I were Huds, I'd probably be hoping to play for a different coach right now. I think Hudler caught Lang-itis when he used to live with him, and Babcock still thinks of him as loafing around like Lang did (even when he doesn't).

Babs doesn't like Huds, therefore Kenny will lowball him. It'll depend on whether a team wants to give up the picks.

I call Datsyuk for the double hat trick. You heard it here first.

Deep down, I think the Wings wanted to win in Detroit, and they're confident enough to let it go to 7. I have no data to back this up.

I was in a bar watching, and couldn't hear it very well, but was the crowd singing? It sounded like a European football match for a second there; what were they singing?

If Datsyuk is back, what are the lines you want?
58Miles2Joe replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
According to MLIVE here are the lines: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Filppula-Hossa Hudler-Helm-Samuelsson Holmstrom-Draper-Maltby Leino-Abdelkader (scratched) Hudler and Sammy on the same line? Helm's good but he can't set up two snipers by himself, especially when one of them is Sammy. Yikes. Holmstrom becomes worthless on a line with Drapes and Maltby because they can't get any quality shots on net. Lines 3 and 4 scare me, Babs. According to me, here are the lines: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Cleary-Helm-Hudler Samuelsson-Draper-Maltby Leino-Abdelkader (scratched) I think the Wings are better than the Pens, and getting hung up on matching up against Crosby and Malkin is getting us off of our game. Our top three lines have a guy capable of shutting down Crosby (D/Z, Hoss, Helm/Cleary) and no one can really stop Malkin one-on-one right now anyway. Lines 1 and 2 are proven performers. Line 3 allows two fast guys to dig the puck out to a sniper. Line 4 allows Sammy (who shoots almost every time anyway) to fire away and let 33 and 18 muck it up down low. And if the Drapes/Malts PK combo can't capture some of their old magic we're in trouble, and they need to be scratched for 6 and 7.
