Was looking around and noticed that a Joel Quenneville coached team has never defeated Detroit in a playoff series. Even more interesting is that Quenneville teams have faced the Red Wings 4 times since he started coaching, those years were '97,'98,'02,and'08. Every year we have won the cup we have beaten a Joel Quenneville team.

Well if a monkey spinning a wheel says they'll win why do we bother playing?
-
wow expect at least one goal waved off on "goalie interference" from Holmstrom
-
So what am I supposed to do if I already have a thick beard?
-
He looks like a Goat with that beard. Someone needs to buy him a comb for that thing. Just finished video and he gave the "worst team in the NHL" a C? You would think that being the worst at something would net you a grade worse than average.
-
i saw it earlier not quite sure what it was called but i know its on youtube somewhere.

Again this is because espn has stakes in both those sports, they control most knowledge about both sports. Shawn Merriman was caught using steroids and espn glanced over it, hardly ever mentioned it and now most people dont bother to remember that he tested positive for them. espn has alot of power when it comes to sports, if espn got a stake in the nhl they would show a lot more positive than negative because they would want it to succeed and give them better ratings.
-
That is the very reason to go back to ESPN. Alot of people may not like it but this is where the majority of people get their sports information from. Espn currently has no stake in the NHL unlike the NBA, MLB, and NFL thats why it gets thrown to the end of the show and gets 5 min total airtime. If the NHL were to go back to being shown on espn they wouldnt want all their people badmouthing it. The only way for a sport to become truly big in this country is to, unfortunately, get in with espn. I mean just look what they did with nascar, that went from something(hard to call it a sport) that hardly anyone cared about and now its become much bigger than it has ever been before; all because espn backed it. Hockey needs espn unfortunately because espn would give it more national exposure than Vs. ever could.

Hey I had the same problem, went to IE and it never even made me register or anything.
-
Even if the Oilers win, would they really want him on their team? Its not that big a deal he'll end up having to pay some money to them for breach of contract; yes, verbally saying yes without signing does count. Verbal contract my friend, a very powerful legal tool.
-
The only person i could see him living with would be Datsyuk, since he speaks russian and Igor's english is in his own words, "bad". There isnt any other russian born players on our team.

No one will even remotely go near Jiri, not to be offensive but, no one wants a player to die on their bench or on their ice.
-
Oh you wont be so lucky , they'll show that replay about 1000 times and inevitably Pronger will be shown in some shape form or fashion probably sitting in the suites somewhere.
-
Wow Pronger starts his cheapshots again, with a huge elbow to smash Homers face into the glass and he gets nothing!?! What he did was alot worse than what Rob did, Pronger should be gone and Rob should still be out there.
-
he was shown coming in after the game had started, so there was really no way he was getting put in the lineup anyhow.
-
I want to face Dallas for one sole reason: It means we wont have to face Luongo. Period.

I was perusing yahoo sports and I came across this nugget in a story about Game 5, that might please alot of people on here. "Babcock did not say what lineup changes, if any, he planned to make Saturday. But Mikael Samuelsson or Kyle Calder could be scratched to get Jiri Hudler back on the ice." http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AnkP...p&type=lgns Im hopin it's Samuelsson and not Calder, and that Babs actually does get Huddles back on the ice.

Good to see DiPietro is earning his 15 year payday.
-
You'd think with a last name that sounds like McGoo, Referee would be at the bottom of the career list.
-
Do we really need play by play on tv though? I mean we're watchin them play i dont need to be told whats happening when im watching it happen. Thats more of a radio thing where you cant see whats going on.
-
I think its better than most announcers. Especially the VS guys, all they do is drone on and on about nothing. I just really like Brett Hull, he should call every NHL game. Its the first time I really want to listen to the announcers because you never know what Hullie is gonna say and ive actually laughed a few times.

I just got back from work, i noticed no score but how has Bertuzzi looked?

every personnel move goes through the GM whether it be a trade or drafting a player. The fact that the wings have all this young blood either here(dats and zetts) or in the waiting(Igor, if he ever comes, and kindl) shows what he's done. I mean sure he gets recommendations from scouts but who doesn't? Ultimately who gets picked and signed comes down to the GM(or owner in rare cases) and to a much lesser extent the coaches. As for Murphy, sure Bowman wanted the trade to be made but it was Holland who had to make a deal to get him. Suggesting a player and getting a player are two different things.

there doesn't seem to be any real logic at least according to Wikipedia, seems like they were just trying to copy us: "Fans of the Nashville Predators have created their own unique tradition to show their support: on occasion, a fan will throw a catfish onto the ice. The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville cites the first instance of this on October 30, 2003. At least four catfish were thrown onto the ice after the first Nashville goal on November 13, 2003. The Detroit Red Wings have a similar tradition where fans throw octopuses onto the ice, with the creature's eight legs symbolizing the eight wins it once took the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup. It is likely a fan decided to create a Southern tradition, and the catfish — a Southern trademark — was a fairly logical choice." Edit: I looked just to make sure and the October 30th game they say was the start was against the Wings. Which pretty much means it was just to rip off the tradition of the Wings.

He'll be alright, he's still got 14 more years left on his contract. He'll be back eventually.
