Abdelkader suspended 2 games for hit on Lydman

Huh? It's not jumping if one foot is on the ice. By the way, Lydman is not currently at the Ducks' practice.

Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

Obviously a huge blow to us. I personally think that Colaiacovo is underrated around here though. He has actually played pretty well when he has been in the lineup. The complaint with him has largely just been his injury issues.
  3. I disagree. I'll show you why. There were two parts to your post: 1. Note the word "fact". 2. Now, I'll admit, you use the word "possible". However, you claim that: So would the following quote from you, just two or three pages back qualify as saying that it's likely? I believe that "almost certain" is actually even stronger than "likely". That's why I asked for factual evidence. Hopefully that clears up what I was trying to say. And demonstrates how you're doing exactly what you tend to blast people around here for doing.
  4. It's funny how much you criticize other people for speculation and then do the same thing yourself. To say pretty much exactly what you would say to such a post: -How do you know he's out of game shape? In particular, his broken hand and pectoral injury should have little impact on his ability to get in cardio work. -Your claim that he's being kept out as a precaution is complete speculation. Is there any factual basis for claiming that this is likely? I've seen you claim this several times, not just in this post.
  5. The alternative was Chicago. At least we won against the Ducks.
  6. He's been back for 3 games. Over that time he has 4 points and has played over 27 minutes in each game. The guy is unbelievable.

WCQF: (7) Red Wings vs. (2) Ducks

I actually feel pretty good about playing the Ducks. I'm excited for this to get underway. Super proud of our D this year. Lots of young guys and they've done great! Does anybody have advice for how to watch the playoffs? I'm living in grad res, so I get basic channels (i.e. CBC). I've only been able to watch Wings games because I paid for GameCenter this year, but now what? I don't mind paying to watch online, but is that even an option for the playoffs?

    Zach Parise

Looks like we're getting some perspective on this one, hey? Obviously the Wings could still miss the playoffs. But centcougar's post is just too funny right now. Edit: Sorry, I know it's probably not necessary to bump this. But at the very least it should prove to people that landing the big UFA's isn't everything. So many people thought that Minny was in such great shape.

    Jackets vs Stars

The Stars announcers are already getting giddy about the chance to hurt the Wings' playoff chances by losing tonight and then trying to beat the Wings. Seriously.
  10. Source? Or personal wish?
  11. Yes, I know. That was clearly stated in the quote that I provided. What I'm really curious about is Helm. I know that there were some suggestions earlier that he *could* be done for the season, but my impression was that it wasn't definite. Hopefully he could at least be back for the playoffs.
  12. As per Mlive: And, in case anyone missed this bit: Samuelsson could be back in the lineup any time as well.

    Franzen.... cares?!

I get your frustration man, but you may as well relax and try to enjoy his hot streaks. He's going to be around for a long time and I imagine he'll always be streaky.

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

I don't know about others, but I was extremely critical of Howard's lack of effort on that play. I don't want to get into that whole conversation again, but it would be absolutely wrong to say that people criticized Kostitsyn only because he's from Nashville and/or becaues he's Russian.

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

I assume this was directed at the poster I was responding to and not me? I definitely agree with this to an extent - motivation is played up too much. But it does have a significant role at times (as was alluded to, Kostitsyn's line change comes to mind).

The Race for Eight: Blue Jackets, Stars, Wings

I'm not a parent either, but I just...does that actually happen?! I can't imagine thinking that...

And a huge time for Zetterberg as the captain. This is where leadership becomes crucial.

nhl.com calls Kenny the best GM

I believe we were in a huge cap-crunch. It mattered a lot at the time. Even ignoring the whole argument of whether he should have known Hossa was the better choice, the Wings couldn't afford that.

    4/21 GDT

The tie-breaker is games played, so we're still ninth for the moment. Obviously this just reinforces that we need to win every game though.

Hitting shinpads would be a step up. Remember Filppula's shot on the 3 on 2 yesterday?

    4/21 GDT

It's funny (?), because we can't even score 2 goals in a game.

    4/21 GDT

I think that it's pretty clear: the Wings have to win every remaining game to make it into the playoffs. Not kidding - I really don't believe they make it if they can't do that.
  24. I'm conflicted on this one. On the one hand, watching teams like the 2002 Wings was fantastic. On the other hand, does anybody else remember the mind-numbingly boring games against Chicago, St. Louis and Columbus for a few years? And it was what, like 8 games with each of them each season? We destroyed every one of them every time and it was REALLY hard to get excited about long stretches of the regular season. I think that was actually just after the 2005 lockout that I'm referring to, before we actually saw the parity start to come about. The Wings had 124 points that first season back and the next closest in our conference was 12 points back of us. Oh right, and the thing I miss. Steve Yzerman.
  25. That's fine, I wasn't trying to call you out or question your reading comprehension. I think it was just clearer to me beacuse the first thing I read was the bit on the front page (quoted in my last post) that, in reference to Miller's injury, does explicitly state "another injury". Just trying to clarify.
