No surprise that Canada and the US are way over the cap. It is surprising that Sweden almost makes the cut. Russia being right at the cap, isn't surprising since they have a pro-KHL attitude it seems. US based media reporting on to NHL fans, is why I figure they left out the KHL numbers for a bunch of folks you're probably never heard of anyway. Also, they would then have to find every league's payroll and add in SEL, etc. -

I think the "turning point" discussion is a little premature. A couple solid games (even if they were losses) and a SO win doesn't somehow change the things that are fundamentally wrong with the team this season.

I disagree with their hypothesis. Yes, there is a cost, but to imply that it is directly related to ticket prices or should be treated differently than other costs is silly. It's like saying a Big Mac costs 30 cents more today because the fry cook stuck his hand in the oil. Yes, there are costs, but to say that if they made the game less hockey-like and therefore safer (less injuries) that the costs would go down is nonsensical.
