I agree, I think it's a combination of factors. On paper, Detroit doesn't look like a shoe-in. Perennial contender, but seemingly lacking the team to go deep into the playoffs. Tend to sign most players for less than market value. The cutoff, to me, says a lot. It he had gone to the last 6 Cup teams, that would have included Anaheim. They're second in the west right now, third overall. I think it was definitely an exclusionary move to take the Wings out of the running. Truth be told, we'll never know - this is all speculation and that what makes it so fun and so frustrating at the same time! Make it easier on yourself... Make the list of players who DID CHOOSE Detroit. It's a much shorter list.

*cough* Iginla *cough* Why only give the GM the choice of the last 4 Cup champs? Why not that fifth one? I reiterate my point in starting this thread - the diamond has lost its shine.

He's not the only person. Although, I would say I'm more towards 'indifferent' than 'full dislike'. I just think he's getting past his prime and his reminiscing about the 'good ol' days' brings the broadcast to a screeching halt sometimes.

We are "apart" of his list. What we aren't is "a part" of his list.

I don't believe that is how the waiver wire works. Nevermind, I stand corrected.. Let me state that I think that is ridiculous. It should be: season starts with waiver wire in order from Worst to First. If you use your waiver, you are put at the bottom of the list. All other teams stay in the order they were in. That way (potentially) every team would have a semi-fair shot. By ranking it PER WAIVER, the current lower seeded teams ALWAYS have a priority over the current higher seeded teams irrespective of the prior year's finish. It all but guarantees that perennially successful teams like the Wings will almost never have a decent shot at waived players because some basement dweller *cough* I'm looking at YOU, New York *cough* will have priority even if they've used 26 prior waiver claims in the season already.

They read it on the internets, so therefore, it MUST be true.

Bench. Correction, Press Box.

However, the Wings wouldn't be bidding against 28 teams. Iginla has a short list of allowable destinations - under 6, I think.

Unless he has been secretly practicing playing as a Defenseman. You never know...
-
That's the way I read it too.

And that's why I rely on others when it comes to the ins and outs of contracts and such.

I wonder if this is a 'get a few games in now and be ready to be a "Black Ace" after the Euro tournaments'?

There's several topics that we have discussed here and then I have seen them on Red Wings Live pregame, Wingspan or MLive.. I do believe we have admirers.

Wow, I didn't see that coming... and neither would he.

This just in: Surplus of dollar hot dogs and cold Miller Lites expected through the end of the season at JLA. "With the unexpected departure of Larry, we will be unable to adjust our ordering and inventories until after the end of the season," said an obviously befuddled concession manager. "That dude could eat his weight in dollar hot dogs and [as you could tell from his broadcasts] he LOVED those Miller Lites. Expect many unscheduled 'Dollar Hot Dog Nights' as we try to burn through this excess inventory."

BOG Approves realignment, Detroit to the East in 2013/14.

As someone who attends games in Nashville, this statement isn't very true anymore. When I first started going to Nashville for games in the early 2000s, it was easily a sea of Red and White fans - better than 75% most times. Fast forward to the games I've attended in the last few years and the percentages have almost completely flip-flopped. It's not unusual to see less than 30% DRW fans. (granted, not everyone that attends games does so in their team's colors, but you can usually tell who most people are rooting for) Wings fans used to be able to drown out any Let's Go Predators chants by Chanting Let's GO Red Wings... not so much anymore. And to all that, I say, good for them! Having their own fans outnumber their (arguably) biggest rival's fans is a badge of honor that depicts the growth of the fan base. -

I know I'm in the minority, but I REALLY dislike how they split the divisions. -

Correction: 1 point out of 5 points that were earned. -
Only problem is that the C-bus goal will come with 90 seconds left and ruin the goose egg for Jimmy!

First, yes, I know this will get bumped from GENERAL, but I want as many people as possible to see it. MODS, please just give it a day before you move it. Ladder Truck #22 is the first in ladder truck at the Joe. They were out picking up chow when someone stole some very important pieces of equipment off the truck. It's no secret Detroit is in dire financial straights. The city can't afford to replace the tools. The Brotherhood of Fire (a group on facebook) stepped up and that are doing a fundraiser to raise money to buy Truck 22 some new equipment. It may be of interest to some folks here because of the logo on the front (and the fact that it's a DAMN GOOD cause that the money's for). I have no interest in this fundraiser other than I'm a firefighter and I love the Wings. http://teespring.com/NFEBrotherhood

Low 3M's and make up any perceived underpayment with incentives. X bonus for performance (I have no idea how you would set these and what they should be for so that poor team performance doesn't hamper JH's ability to obtain these goals - perhaps year-over-year improvement in GAA and S%?) X bonus for playoff games/rounds wins. X bonus for SC win.
