The only thing missing from these pictures is the Cup. I would have to imagine that if the Wings had won it this year, it would have magically* been Hank's day with the Cup on his wedding day. *and by 'magically', I mean specifically scheduled.

It works the same way - the important number - the "cap hit" is the cost of the total contract divided by the number of years. The individual years are not relevant when discussing "what can X team afford?" The incentive for the player in a 'front loaded' deal is that he gets the majority of his money up front by agreeing to a longer term to reduce the 'cap hit'. The team may be paying him $10 Million for the year, but depending on the cap hit, the contract can cost less against the salary cap even though it costs $10 Million in actual dollars.

The Preds game in Nashville in late March. The hunt for playoff positioning was in full effect. A tough goaltender battle lead to an 11 round shootout and a Wings victory. I was there, it was loud, it was GREAT! Postseason fav. - tied between game 7 of PHX series and game 4 of SJS series. I love them both for the sheer humbling embarrassment of both teams. I guess San Jose does get the last laugh though.

Is it October yet??? Thanks for the season Wings. I guess I'll have to actually go outside and enjoy the spring sunshine now instead of watching hockey until mid-June.
