Hmmm.. we'd have to "pay" him on the salary cap anyway, sooooooo... NO. Let him ride the pine as Jimmy's backup and get his 400 wins. If nothing else, the Illitch's are a loyal bunch and at this point - the Wings owe Ozzy his shot at 400 wins in the winged wheel. -

Since the magic number appears to be 3 - 5 points, (3pts for a 99% chance, 5 pts for a guaranteed playoff spot) I could see riding Jimmeh until the spot is locked in and then riding Ozzy the rest of the way - potentially 3 starts. Unless a favorable matchup position is on the line and then I could see the team just riding Jimmeh all the way into the playoffs.

You're confusing two issues. Yes, Nashville gets revenue sharing money to pay their players. The "privilege tax" goes to the State of TN, not to the Preds themselves. So, your ticket money has nothing to do with the privilege tax.

I missed any mention of why he was sitting, I just kept seeing the mentions that he WAS sitting. Did he just get a "benching" ON the bench instead of the pressbox? (In case someone got hurt and he had to play? I'm guessing..) 2nd night of a back-to-back and desperate for points, that's a gutsy call with 2 other forwards out with injuries.
