A friend of mine knows somebody that knows somebody, yada yada. Anyway, we're headed to the Sommet tomorrow to watch the Flames and the Preds. It's not Red Wings hockey, but it's free NHL hockey. This should be a good game as Kipper has been quite hot lately and Nashville is 7-3-0 in their last 10.

Believe me, I considered it. However, every time I do that, there's an inevitable confrontation. Most are all in good fun, but a few folks have been downright arsehole-ish. Instead I chose to go with the Rochester Americans. Sure, it's a 'jersey foul', but who can get mad at the word "Americans"? haha

I can only speak for myself as an American that absolutely disagrees with mandatory tipping. Several times I've had to call a manager over to the table and politely ask them to remove the automatic tip. Out of those times, all but 2 resulted in a BIGGER tip than what was proposed by the 18%. On the 2 that resulted in less than 18% it was due to a lack of service, plain and simple. I shouldn't be forced to reward poor service based strictly on the size of my party. OK, back to the thread at hand. $18000/45 people is $400 per person. I hope the meal was good!

You could try this. Setup a Google Voice account (with a US number). Have the texts go to the GV account. Have GV forward the texts to your cell and/or email address. Seems like a lot of work for little benefit, but it's an option. Added bonus, you'd then have a US number in case anyone wanted to call you from the States. Since most cell plans include domestic long distance, it would save them money. You can also use your GV account to call them for free. Free calls to and from US/Canada.

You typing this in every thread is lazy and it sucks. Seriously, get a new gimmick.

Yeah, it is pretty nice. I wasn't looking forward to paying an extra $40/month for the next 4 months.
