For those that don't consider the Preds a rival, just remember, Kenny Holland does. The Pred fans that I have interacted with while proudly sporting my Wings jersey were waaaay more intense than any of the Blues fans I came into contact with at the Savvis. Pred's building is louder and the Pred fans love to 'talk' it up win or lose. The closest I came to any sort of 'rivalry' feeling in STL was when a traffic cop threatened to ticket me for jaywalking and then his partner said, "Well he's from Detroit, he doesn't know any better."

Yeah, call me crazy, but I'd like to see the 3 stars and the post game interviews as well. I'm sure it's a money deal. Once the game is over, the interviews and such become property of the network/station doing them and it would probably cost CI money to continue airing the feeds. Also, the satellite/cable usage(bandwidth) has to have some sort of price tag attached to it as well.

Here's where we have to agree to disagree then. People aren't going to jump to a team or a sport overnight. I think the Preds have done well in only 10 years. They ice a great team (this year? err, maybe not so much) and are very competitive. It's been mentioned a million times that they don't have the corporate support that other teams enjoy - we'll have to see if the 'save the Preds' groundswell does anything to change that. I think you'd see a vastly different sales figure for the Joe if they didn't have the corporate support. If people can't bother to show up for their free seats, they certainly wouldn't be buying the tickets. It disgusts me to see the NUMEROUS empty seats.

For those of you trying to compare Detroit ticket sales and Nashville ticket sales, you are comparing apples and oranges. Detroit - been in league since 1926. Nash - been in league since waaay back in 1997. Detroit population - 954,000 http://detroit.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm Nash population - 545,000 http://nashville.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm 13800 seats sold out of 17000 available is 81%. Not a bad number for a non-traditional market during a long and tedious regular season. And their playoff games were all sellouts. Detroit managed to "sellout" the Joe during the regular season, but where were the people?? Empty seats everywhere. The Joe averaged about 3K short of a sellout for each and every playoff game. 17000/20066 is 84%. You beat the poor Preds to death about the tickets and yet the Wings didn't fare much better. Economy? Sure, Michigan's not faring so well, but they're still better than Nashvegas. Wow. Has the Red Wing Nation really sunk to this? Nitpicking over trivialities makes it look like so many sour grapes. For all anyone knows, the "keepers of the cup" dented it while taking it out o the protective shipping crate. It's a dent. Not the first, not the last.
