Datsyuk awarded 97th point after the game

Datsyuk was on the ice. He got a + even though he originally wasn't awarded an assist. It doesn't matter if he got the assist or not. He is still stil +38.

    Detroit's Defensmen

    Please explain.

    Detroit's Defensmen

Why? +/- does not measure defensive ability.

    TSN POY voting

I disagree, you see that kind of thing everyday, guys might not finish everytime, but we see Datsyuk pull moves more impressive each game. Ryan's was easily the most impressive, so smooth, like he didn't even have to try.

4/5 GDT: San Jose at Anaheim

    You're probly right...

    Did anyone cap todays game?

Eh, one bad give away by osgood (he shot it right to them) that led to kinda a soft goal, but he played well, and had a couple of BIG saves.

    Franzen at what cost?

I would not be suprised to see Lidstrom take 4M for his next contract. The guy is as humble as can be. He has made enough money to support his family for many generations. At this point in his career i bet he puts the team first and his pay second just to keep winning.
  8. I hope he coaches Colorado, maybe stir up the rivalry a bit again. I just don't see it happening though.

    Hossa vs Franzen

I know that you know what i'm saying, you're just choosing to make it sound like something else. Deciding who to keep based on 1 game, or 14 games, is stupid.

    Hossa vs Franzen

That's my point though, that sounds stupid.

    Hossa vs Franzen

If it's about current events then why do we need to look at the last 14 games even, we should just look at the last one. Or base who we keep on a game to game basis. We're talking about the Red Wings future in this topic, not who is hot right now, but it seems like you are too stubborn to realize that.

    Hossa vs Franzen

Say this topic came up in the middle of February. Hossa's last 13 games before 2/16 12g, 6A Franzen's last 13 games before 2/16 4g, 2A There you go, Hossa had 3x as many points over a cartain span of time. Would you have said Hossa 'wants it more' then? Maybe, but you can't base who you want to keep for the future based on 1/6 of a season. You have to look at the entire season. Hossa is a better player (faster, stronger, stands up for himself) and only one year older.

    Hossa vs Franzen

Based on what? They have nearly identical numbers. Both have the ability to take the puck to the net and score. The biggest difference i see between them is that Hossa is faster, stronger, and doesn't get pushed around as much.

    Pavs

I dunno, it seemed like there were an awful lot of 6s, 7s, and some 8s put up by teams this year. Maybe i'm just imagining it, or maybe scoring is more spread out. i dunno.

    Mule close to signing

Kronwall and Flip for the #2 overall (Hedman). Do i think it even has a chance of happening? No.

    Mule close to signing

Holland isn't giving up on Hossa. I'm sure he has an idea about how he is going about this. He's not gunna lose Hossa without a fight.

Get Rid of the Extra Point for OT/SO Losses

C'mon, if players can't handle an extra 5 minutes of hockey then they don't belong in the NHL.

Get Rid of the Extra Point for OT/SO Losses

It would force teams to actually play in OT. Like last year when Edmonton had a lot (14 maybe?) SO wins, they clearly would shut it down in OT and play for the shootout.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

Which Wings goalie is that? I dont see a 4.5 gaa next to any of our goalies names.

The road to success is always under construction.

That's what Roloson and Ward were in 06, above average at best, they sure didn't disappoint. I'm not saying I am sure Osgood will make a long playoff run, but he is the best choice. You can't base your reasoning off of one year or any number of years. Every player is different, every year is different. Osgood will start in the playoffs and will finish the playoffs unless he seriously falters, but I have confidence in him because he is our goalie and that's the way it is.

3/29 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3

Just curious, what makes you think that? (don't answer if you are just going to post regular season numbers)

The road to success is always under construction.

I am ok with Osgood in the playoffs, he is our best option in my opinion and i don't care what the number say. The point i was trying to make, however, was that people were willing to lose Hossa and possibly one of either Hudler or Franzen to get a guy like Lehtonen? That's insane, losing one or two top goal scorers for a guy who is no better than what we have.

The road to success is always under construction.

I don't see Boston letting Thomas go. Lehtonen does nothing for me and his numbers are comparable to Osgood's. There just aren't any goalies availible that are worth spending money on.

and who do you suggest we get?
