All of this "we can't win 4 of 5" stuff is bulls***, because that's not the way the Wings or the Sharks will look at it. Say this series is 2-2 after 4 games. Does it matter how it gets there? Is there a difference between each team being 2-0 at home or each team going 1-1 at home? Are the Wings out of it even if it's 2-2? The answer is no.

The Brookbank/Clifford fight was pretty entertaining. Brookbank got a few good ones in. But yeah, very surprising that Selanne would fight, especially given that it's the last game before playoffs, that could've been devastating.

I just watched that series on youtube yesterday. It was incredible, easily my favorite. Playoff intensity at its highest.

If there was one F/D/G you could add to the team, who would it be?

Pretty much every fan-base has an athlete that they can do that chant for. For instance, Detroit had Ndamukong Suuuuuh. However, I do not participate because I agree that it is ridiculous. As for the original question, I agree with someone before me in Nash, Weber, and Lundqvist. That would be killer. -
I'll be rooting for Oakland. I've been to a few of their games and they seem like a pretty well put together team. They're projected as a 13 seed after winning the Summit league and with the right match-up they have a shot for an upset. Looks like they're playing Texas in the first round, thats gunna be tough.

Of course we would go nuts, it's never easy seeing one of your own lie there motionless. However, that's not an argument you can use while forming your opinion of this hit. When it happens in a game involving other teams it gives us a chance to think rationally, rather than jump to conclusions. Personally, I saw it as a standard hockey play, a penalty for sure, but something that happens every night. Unfortunately it had about as bad of a result as possible. If it were up to me, I would not suspend Chara, but I can understand a game or two. Anything more I think is too much.

Best one from last year.

I don't get it, is there an explanation on this page that I am missing? Where do the adjusted numbers come from, and what do they mean?

I disagree, it was a dive, but Salei still hooked a guy who was in the clear. Dive or not, it's the right call.

Settle down, the Wings have had worse times since the lockout. Losing in the first round to EDM, losing 10 of 11 in February of '08, being outside of the playoffs during our injury stretch last year. We will be fine, we're a playoff team and we will have things ramped back up by then.

I think the darks would look much better with the Shoulder patch as the main logo. I really like the white ones though.

I've pretty much had the same line of thinking as you on #3. Every game is worth the same # of points and only when it gets to a shootout (which probably will happen much less often w/10 mins in OT) do they divide up the points. However #2 doesn't make sense to me. Goalies need to be protected, period. It's too difficult to replace them. No one wants to see a goalie get run when he is outside of the blue cutting off an angle. I'd say most people would be in favor of #1. #4 and 5 I'm indifferent about.

Suh fined 15k for hit on Cutler I guess I can understand the original penalty, it did look pretty vicious, but to review it and still hand out a fine is ridiculous. Cutler was by definition a "runner" since he was past the line of scrimmage. The NFL contradicted their own rulebook. It's not illegal to push a runner, but since that runner happened to be a QB, the hit Suh with the fine.

This is great, thanks a lot. Too bad the Boston/Tampa game is on Versus. That'd be a good game to catch.

Shoulder to shoulder. Period. It's not that hard. Destroying a guy is not the only way of separating him from the puck. I don't care if it's Chara on Theron Fleury, a hit to the head is dirty.
-
Perron played the puck, or at least attempted to, can't fault Thornton there. There certainly was no elbow, not even close. The only thing I see is the whole hit to the head from east/west thing. If there is a better angle out there that shows a clear hit to the head, then go ahead and suspend him, but from what I'm seeing I can't say this is a no doubt suspension. Edit - After a second look at it in HD, it definitely looks like shoulder to head, suspendable play if you ask me.

Tough to tell, but clean hit or not an automatic ejection is just too steep of a penalty. Give him a 5 minute major or even a 10 minute misconduct, but let the NHL review it first before you start making guys miss games.

Been using a Bauer ONE90 for about 3 years now, but the blade is getting weak. I've only ever used Bauer one-pieces and I've had excellent luck with them. The ONE90 is my 4th Bauer and all of them lasted at least a season except 1. One of them was actually a pro-stock Mark Mowers Vapor XXX and I loved the curve but obviously couldn't find more anywhere.

Ugh, I hope he comes to the conclusion that the NBA isn't worth it. That league is a joke and I wish it would just go away.

I used to be huge into this when I was a kid. I have shoe boxes full of hockey cards, but I probably haven't bought a pack in 10 years. For the longest time I thought I was rich (didn't know any better then) because I have Wayne Gretzky's and Mario Lemieux's rookie card, but it turns out they were part of some anniversary pack so you could buy them all together (not the real thing). So my Gretzky RC is worth about $5 instead of $900 like I originally thought.

I think sometimes it makes sense and other times it doesn't. On a tripping call, I agree, it has to be either a trip or a dive. However with such weak hooking calls being handed out, it's certainly possible that a hook and a dive can occur on the same play.

Incredible, 59-59 and it's going to a third day. The fifth set alone is longer than any match in tennis history now. This is absolutely insane.
