I just noticed Boston and Detroit are both 18-4-4 The difference being Boston's 56 GA to our 80 GA. Tim Thomas is a good goalie, but Boston is playing strong defense as one cohesive unit..which is what used to be the Wings biggest advantage.

The thing about Kronwall, and even Stuart, is that they are trying to pick their spots better. Kronwall has said repeatedly he doesn't spend a game running around trying to knock people around, but if the hit is there, he'll take it. Of course, when the playoffs roll around he's a lot more willing to dish them out.

No you didn't, but you are the one who suggested that the league shouldn't "burn the bridge" that is Elisha Cuthbert. So with Avery's comments we somehow run the risk of doing that? And by not suspending him the league runs the risk of doing that? And if they do, is it really all that bad? That's hard to believe.

Sorry, can't agree with you on that one. A skate to the leg or a sucker punch to the face with your glove on is very different from calling an ex-girlfriend a *****. Plus, let's not kid ourselves, Avery knew exactly what he was doing. To be perfectly honest, he probably did it out of boredom. I'm starting to doubt what I said earlier, he probably doesn't care about Elisha or Dion. s***'s and giggles, I say. The verbal side can be unacceptable, yes, but they are terribly different. I think Steve Moore would have preferred Bertuzzi calling him a spineless piece of s*** who should go to hell, and that his mother a ****, rather than have his neck broken...

Thanks for posting that. That video actually improved my opinion of Sean. Controversy aside, he seems like a guy who knows what he wants and doesn't care if you don't like it. Good for him, most people are too afraid of accepting who they are and running with it. Also, I love that Brett Hull is in that video saying that they signed him because the Stars were becoming too "vanilla." I couldn't help but crack up considering what he's saying now.

I think it has more to do with the way the league "does business" that is inconsistent. This is particularly true when it comes to treatment of players based on who they are. Pronger and Simon are a good example. Though Simon's action's were was a bit more malicious, considering Pronger's rap sheet, his suspension was a joke. If I remember correctly, Simon wasn't too happy about it either and even asked the NHL what the hell kind of mixed message they were sending. Some of this stuff is not as black and white as the Bertuzzi - Moore incident was. They are just now addressing head shots and warning players not to do it. It's funny that you bring up consistency because they should have be very consistent and clear about that long ago. Not when Simon Gagne starts to get upset about it. Again, Avery deserves punishment, but let's not go overboard here.

Yes, but I'm talking Avery in the general sense, not his actions here. You say the league doesn't want to associate with these things but crazier stuff has happened in the NHL in the past and was handled with less seriousness. On and off the ice. I don't think I need to make a list for you.

So what's wrong with someone perceived as a villain to have crossover appeal? I think that's good for the sport, maybe his actions will indeed attract people to watch the sport just to hate him. Maybe they'll be a instant Flames fan because they hate Sean Avery too lol The NHL doesn't do that though. Avery markets the NHL himself. I think he really does love the game and he doesn't believe the NHL doesn't needs to be so serious all the time. These comments aside, I think Avery just likes to stir the pot to make things more interesting for himself and give people something to talk about. One of my favorite shows on television is Boston Legal, and William Shatner's character "Denny Crane" said something in a episode I recently watched that sticks out. "It doesn’t matter what people are saying as long as they talk about you." That's Avery in a nutshell.

I already said it was "off color" and the way he said it was idiotic. When I say he got too real, I mean he got way to honest and people didn't like it. The fact that it was rehearsed just made it worse. I think these situations are very alike. Like when Pronger smashes Thomas Holmstrom's head into the glass then proceeds to ***** to the press that the only reason he was suspended was the media and physics.
