A team from Anaheim, CALIFORNIA won the Stanley Cup last year... Correction, the fact that there's even a team in places like Anaheim, California.
-
I feel like Jimmy has played very well lately. People may look at the score last night and see 4 goals, but i dont hold him repsonsible for all of them. There was a deflection, a one timer from basically the top of his crease, a break away, and i didnt see the 4th goal. I would be interested in seeing Jimmy play when our defence is healthy, and with some sort of offensive support. I mean in his 2 starts, the Wings have averaged .5 goals a game. If Dom retires next year, would you feel comfortable with Jim getting the back up role, and challenging for the starters job?
-
I know, although i havent read the expected return dates of the injured defencemen, if they all get back around the same time, I don't see why Kenny or Babs wouldn't keep him up an extra couple of days to see him play with the Wings, and not the Griffins.
-
I see what you're saying about stealing a couple games. However, in J-Ho's two starts he's had assignment of outplaying Turco and Luongo. I think he outplayed Turco ( although losing 1-0), and Luongo didn't really have to come up big. Yes, 4 goals is 4 goals, but I think the Wings should keep Jimmy up even when Dom gets back, and then give Jimmy at least one game when the defence is healthy.
-
What everyone seems to forget, is that with Jimmy in net, and the entire Griffins defence filling in, there has to be good chemistry...Right? Wings win....let's say... 3-2
-
Perhaps the Injury Bug... if we stay healthy, I honestly dont think theres a team with our mix of skill and grit. Yes some teams have more grit, but few can put the skill wiht it.

To start off, I in no way hope for anything negative to happen to hockey. However, the 3 other major sports (NFL,MLB,and NBA) all have CNN worthy stories. The MLB with steroids, NBA with the gambling referee, and NFL with MIchael Vick. Hockey doesnt have a major story. I think these sports are getting major publicity for these unworthy actions. I mean, lots of people are going to watch the Atlanta Falcons to see how they perform post-Vick. People will always second guess the NBA's officiating, and the MLB is being questioned as to the legitimacy of their athletes skills. All the big American sports have stories that puts more spotlight on them ( even if it is for the negative) and keep pushing hockey further and further out of it. Do you think A major story ( all be it negative) could help the NHL with publicity, or do you think it would make people care even less for it?
-
I know what you folks mean... but wouldn't it help somewhat if The NHL had a CNN esq story... not necessarily a big name player, but something to gain the casual fan's attention.

You can't replace Nick Lidstrom. We'll need 3 or 4 Dmen, who can play significant roles, in order to ttake Nick's spot. Like someone said, He'll probably play in Sweden a couple of years, then in the 2010 Olympics. I suppose it does depend on his kids schooling. Any idea how old they are?
-
I dont know what Kenny's waiting for... He's got a scrapper right under his nose and doesnt sign him up... Get 'er done, Kenny.
-
That Lidstrom guy hasn't done much to impress me yet... I'll go with him.

I am not a yashin fan... never have been never will be. However, Yashin is the most likely to arrive in Detroit. Forsberg is injured, Shanny is staying in NY, Selanne isnt going anywhere, LIndros, well Kenny know better, and peca and carter have no purpose. Yashin could easily smarten up and act noraml on a serious team. He played in Ottawa when they basically sucked, and in Ny with the Isles, the biggest joke ,managing wise, in the league. Yashin gives us that solid second line center with solid scoring ability, For a solid chance for a cup he could play serious. Grab Yashin and a hard nosed grinder and were set... I mean he's basically all thats left... not for 4 million but maybe 2.5, if he's already getting money from NYI.

Very Creative... Excellent Job

We can't begin to negotiate with Z, until next year, right?... I think a 7 year contract would be good.... He'll avoid Dats by a couple of years in expiration. I think 2, 7 year deals at about 47 Million would be good.
-
OKay, there is alot of people saying Ken Holland hasn't done enough, Some say the team is fine., others say holland screwed us over. Don't show home team hope. Pretend this was another team, do you think they would? Make your belief known and not lost in the shuffle.

I love how Babs' head ilooks like its just floatin'.
-
HUH? Nice to see were "well known" everywhere.
-
Has anyone put interest into Marek Svatos?... Tsn says he's restricted and could probably be had for 3-3.5... I know Colorado would probably match... but their currently at 44 Million in Cap... with 17 skaters signed... If they matched theyd be pretty low in cap room for a couple more guys...

Wings sign (G) Adam Berkhoel, (D) Brad Ference
Wingsfan4life19 replied to Filppula41's topic in General
They are both unrestricted... seem like reserves tho.... berkhoel will probably be our number 4 guy ( god forbid it gets that low)... and ference, hard to say wiht the kids coming up..however in his NHL career, Ference is a -44... nor ush bringing him up. -
I like both these things said by Kenny... He realizes Hudler needs to be resigned as a top prospect.... And he also realizes the contract of Z coming up in 2 years... Folks don't sweat about Z... he'll be back... That is all.
-
Just for everyone to know... Shanny will resign with the Rangers... he's already stated... And Eklund( I know) is reporting we are interested in getting shane hnidy ( Eklund, I know) As a previous poster said Hall, comrie, Guerin, Dom... would be very good additions.. I think.
-
We need Markov now, to add some kind of grit.
-
2 years? Kenny couldnt give him 2 years?... O god. We need a Big guy now... Who is left that can fill that role?
-
Kenny had better get Bert back in Detroit. Lots of players are being scooped up. So, If we don't resign Bert, theres less and less talent available to sign, and with less and less talent available, it's more likely a team will take a chance on Bert to sure up their offence. O GOD!! I hope not... C'mon Bert, don't sell out. Where did you hear this?
