I hear ya... personally, I wouldn't take Shanahan OVER Bertuzzi, but if Bertuzzi was signed somewhere else, than Shanny is basically the only power forward left. So I suppose.

Not to get in a war here... but, Bert is more physical, and we only saw Bert play maybe 20 games ( dont want to do math)... and about 4 of those he was playing healthy. Shany is aging, and is slowing,He is not what we need. I personally dont see the positive in bringing in someone who plays a weaker style than one of our own UFA's.

Why? What can Shanny do that Bert can't... Shanny had a great career here, but I wouldn't take him back, even if the price was right.

K... Apparently official, Gomez to Rangers... and jason blake to the leafs 5 years, 20M. I would have like to seen Blake here... but O well, Lets get Bert. Geez I am behind..lol

I like this signing. Lidstrom ( hate to say it ) wont be around in two years, i imagine. Zetterberg can have some of that cash. Rafalski will turn nicely into the leader on the blueline that will be young. Lebda, Quincey,Kronwall, can all learn from a solid professional. I believe people are becoming far to nervous about Zetterberg, Kenny knows what hes doing with Z, and will find space for him.

Apparently now two of the top three highest paid players next seaosn are Flyers.... Briere at 10M... and Kimmo Timonen at 8 million... Thats right Timonen is making more than Lidstrom next season.

Briere is getting 8 years 52 million dollars...with a no movement clause. The Maximum a player can get is 10.6 M

I'm surprised Kenny doesnt offer a contract such as 2 year with a club option for a third... or a one year deal with a club opton for a second... at about 3 million or so.

I'm surprised Dom hasn't signed yet. I'm also kind of surprised Bert wants a long contract, either his back is much better, or he doesnt want to move. However, I am kind fo nervous yet confident. Nervous we have nothing done, yet confident Kenny will get Dom, and Bert, and make a semi-splash
