I have a feeling Babcock may sit Sammy, as a rarely saw him in the third. I was looking for him also as Dad has him in his playoff pool ( I hope it's not genetic). So i am assuming Sammy would sit, as you can't split up a line wiht 6 points in 2 games.

I wouldnt mind seeing the Wings do what Jerry Rice and the 49ers did and sign a one day contract, just so he could retire with his predominant team.Of course it wouldnt be for money, but just so they could say " I retired a Detroit Red Wing".

A couple of times last night he would get bumped and kept going. He drew a couple of penaltys with his tenacious play. Keep it Up Flips.

Detroit isnt the same team as the past few years... In 03, 04,06 (correct me if im wrong) we were first in the league by about 10 points, coasting the last month of the season. Then we were expected to play a team who was dying to get into the playoffs.... We weren't ready. Also coaching, yes in 06 we had babs...but it was his first year on a team with the names like Yzerman, Shanahan. Lidstrom, comnig from a team were JS gigueure was king...thats intimidating.... Babs now has this team playing how he wants, and Detroit is also fighting going into the playoffs. One thing I've learned playing hockey...never fear your opponents... And whose to say on other message boards detroit isnt the team to beat?

OK here are the possibilities. 1) after the season/playoffs Dom stays and we keep him and Ozzie 2) after season/playoffs Dom retires and we have Ozzie/ Howard/Liv 3)after the season and dom is gone we bring up either howard/liv and release/trade Ozzie( lets face it Ozzie isnt a number one goalie) and acquire a number one goalie. Now the problem... What would you do? and if we were to sign a goalie, who would it be?

I find it hard to compare two different generations of players...Howe/Orr and Yzerman... thigns were different when howe and orr were playing. Goalies had less equipment,however, curbed sticks and slap shots were just making an appearance. We'll need a new thread to discuss the two era's

I have this same discussion all the time at school... I argue Yzerman is the greatest EVER ( including Gretzky, lemieux and whomever else). My arguement is he had very few quality teamates the first decade of his career, and when he did get some good teamates he was converted to a defensive forward by scotty bowman. All the guys say " no way, he's overrated, gretzky has more points. Gretzky also had superb linemates his whole career. Another of my arguements is I've been watching Steve all my life, he is the greatest ever, curagous, determined, leadership, skill, everything. "Then why don't sports broadcasters say he's the best" They wouldn't be alowd, if they caused this much controversy, they would be fired. Something Non-Wings fans will never know, and Wings fans wil always live with. Yzerman is the Greatest of All -Time.No question.

By the looks of things, we will probably be playing the stars, sharks, or flames. Playing the flames could be a blessing and a curse, as we would (chances are) finish finish first, but play a hard nosed Calgary team. We have added some "toughness" in calder and bert, but is that enough to beat a team like calgary? Playing the sharks goes without saying, their scary. Personally i would like to play the stars, even if that meens finishing 4th... I think they play very similar to us, and we could beat them. Now , all thats said, who would you rather play?

I may have a rathe ignorant view here; however, I'll give it anyway. What exactly would transpire in contract talks to make them drag out so long. The player/agent gives a number... The team gives a number... If it is close you can easily negotiate, if it is way off you discuss, then negotiate. If a team really puts their mind to it, i don't know why this couldn't happen in a few weeks. I understand the agent needs to ask the player as far as his wishes, and family, and bonuses and what not. But these contracts that go for months like datsyuks has been seems absurd. Can anyone explain or is my view a concencus?

I'm not from the detroit area, but what limitations would their be on equipment... like could you buy the sock tape lidstrom wore in the 56th game of the season? Or for the super fan possibly Lilja's jock... cuz evidently he has no balls. If i ever need any wings paraphenilia I'll wait for Ebay.

I would give the hart to luongo... Solely because the canucks didnt make the playoffs last year... made one key acquisiton in luongo and are first in their division this year....also the pens didn't make the playoffs last year, and crosby has been huge but so has malkin, stall and the other pens. I would also give the selke to Zetts he has more points than lehtinen, and a better +/-. As for coach, that's up in the air... it could be therien(pittsburgh, vignault, vancouver, maybe babs in detroit) lots of great coaches I think Pavs has a great shot at lady byng again... only 20 PIM's so far. Also, i'd give the masterton to phil kessel of the bruins... coming back so quickly after cancer.

That is a possibilty; but, I would assume the Wings would like to bring up one of the kids and give them some experience; and, Ozzie may have to be part of the deal if hes traded to a team with a solid goalie tandem ( i.e Anaheim). Keeping Ozzie and signing/trading for someone definately is an option, i just forgot it, my mistake.
