True, but he's made more progress than I'd have ever hoped. He speaks more regularly now, and he can walk on his own with a walker. Usualy when the doctor says 'permanent brain damage' you don't expect to get any better, but he has; props.

rob off and cheli off. ill take that!

I don't even know if Datsyuk could understand what Perry was saying. He was just sort of looking at him like hunh?

Ok, Hasek may owe Lidstrom a beer for that play, but the whole D owes Hasek some beers, for last night, in my opinion.

if we win the cup, does jason williams get his name on it?

where does one obtain a shark? they DRW are going to have to crack down on the octopi or else its going to get silly, and/or lose its meaning.

The One and Only Positive I Have Faith, Kumbayah"
sean replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
True, we're not playing our best hockey. But what makes you think we will? Last game was a critical game in round 2, on the coach's birthday, no less. If they can't get pumped about that, what's it going to take? -
He is the most defensively reliable of the three borderline guys (Calder, Hudler, Sammy). You're right in that he doesn't bring much to the table in terms of pure offense, but in terms of the DRW gameplan, he's the better fit.

Holmstrom hasn't been in jail yet, so they can't be considered too similar.
-
I think the NHLPA has something to do with rules like these. So, I guess its somewhat up to them.

the sharks can hit hard, given time, and the opportunity. its just not often you find datsyuk or zetterberg with their heads down in the neutral zone. similar arguments apply for lidstrom and co.
-
Inaccurate. If this were true, we'd have gotten bounced again. Maybe on defense. Our forward core isn't really even remotely similar. I don't understand this. Everyone knows how Lidstrom plays. Still, nobody beats him. It's not that easy, Billy. I hope Billy isn't trying to imply that his game is 'highly enigmatic', its not.

Put me down for Quincey over Lebda. Quincey quietly played a very safe, solid game 6. I fear one of Lebda's attempts to take the game into his own hands is going to cost us, sooner or later.

sure, the joe didn't sell out, but im ok with that. All the diehards were there this time; the place was about 10 times as loud as i've heard it all year.

im not shaving until the wings win the cup.

Hats off to Lilja He's not a fighter. He knows it and the rest of the league knows it. He realized our team had an 'opening' in the fighting department and he exploited it. This is what playoff hockey requires: people leaving their comfort zone for the good of the team.

same. s***ty.

never thought i'd say this, but this is one time where I'd downplay the 'heart' factor. You're right in that Z will definetly have have the heart to come back, but i hope he uses the brain too, and realizes that one ill-fated check on a less than healthy back could impact his career.
-
I'm pretty sure its his back, otherwise, I don't think he would have taken any time off skating.
-
I wish they hadn't changed the white jerseys. They used to be nearly the exact inverse of the dark ones. Pretty much the same minus the current red arms.
-
same. We only got cable TV when I was about 17. Before that I'd listen to all the games on the radio. Paul Woods is a good color guy, too.

is today the day of reposts? no offense to you!

It seems like alot of people assume that once Zetterberg is healthy, Babcock will employ a Bertuzzi Zetterberg Datsyuk line. How do you guys feel about this? I think its not a guaranteed success, for a few reasons. I really believe that the the ZDH line is just as dependent on Holmstrom than Datsyuk or Zetterberg. Sure, Bertuzzi might be the better all around guy, but that doesn't gurantee him to be a better fit on the ZD(B/H) line. Although on paper Bert and Holmstrom and similar players, I think Holmstrom is a near perfect fit on line. I also worry that Bert will sort of be too big a factor, sort of like a Lidstrom/Schneider on the PP thing, you know. The ZDH seems to rely on ZD doing most of the puck work and H sort of doing the preliminaries to make sure everything goes well. Will Bert, a player used to being a primary offensive factor, be able to play this role? I think Holmstrom plays a very precise role on the line, and I don't think Bertuzzi is just a straight-away upgrade. In sum, a better player isn't a better player everywhere. Easy to agree with but often forgotten. I could see Babcock giving this line a shot, and regardless of its success, sticking with it for about a round of playoff-time. Hopefully he can make a quick conclusion on the matter once Z is healthy (granted, not much 'prep time'.) In no way am I saying that ZDB is guranteed for failure. I just 1.) Have my doubts, and 2.) Fear that Babcock will force this line no matter what.

I don't know who the Cup technically 'belongs' to, as far as leagues or money etc, but, in my opinion, this inscription is sort of a selfish move. The Cup should go to the best team in hockey, regardless of league or country. It's lame of the NHL to believe that if they aren't in session, nobody else is even worthy of the cup. No surprises, though.

Alex Kovalev's amazing accuracy clip! WOW I'm speechless
sean replied to kovatsyuk's topic in General
That was amazing. I wonder if his wrister accuracy carries to his slap shot. I wonder where Lidstrom's slapper ranks. Picking corners and nailing them under pressure from the blue line is arguably as impressive as Kovalev's thing here.
