That's like seeing a BMW in a guy's drive way and offering him your Ford Pinto and a box of old playboys for it.
-
Awesome.

Also: Seriously? WTF? Have you guys ever seen this many long-term injuries to a team's best players? 67% of our top 6 is injured and 50% of our top 6 defense is injured. lollerskates. After the injuries in the playoffs I thought God hated the Wings. And now it's not looking any brighter.
-
With these pairings what can go wrong? Add to that a 2nd line made up of 4th liners and we're golden. Seriously, though, I care less about the points than I do shutting up smug "our time has come, old man" Chicago bandwagoners.

Save Percentage: Howard-- 0.920 (11th in the league) Anderson-- 0.916 (15th in the league) Goals Against Average: Howard-- 2.27 (8th in the league) Anderson-- 2.68 (24th in the league) Wins: Anderson-- 16W in 30 starts (8th in the league) Howard-- 11W in 17 starts (16th in the league but a far superior win percentage to Anderson's) So I guess your very strong doubts were way off the mark. Howard's smoking him in every statistical category other than shut-outs. Sv% and GAA are the key stats for goalies and there's no question Jimmy's stats are superior in those areas.

Is there a reliable source on this? Hockeybuzz is about as reliable as rolling a dice and consulting the table in the back of your Dungeons and Dragons book.

Here are the new stats for the Wings after all Thursday games have been played: (Note that the "trend" portion indicates the relative change in this stat in question since the last Wings game) Red Wings Team Stats (after 34 games played): GA/G: 2.53 (Rank: 8th Trend: Up 1 spot, Overall Change: Improved 3%) G/G: 2.71 (Rank: 19th (tied) Trend: Down 1 spot, Overall Change: Improved 0.4%) 5-5 F/A: 0.92 (Rank: 22nd Trend: Up 1 spot, Overall Change: Improved 3% ) SA/G: 28.1 (Rank: 5th (tied) Trend: Up 2 spots, Overall Change: No change ) S/G: 33.6 (Rank: 2nd Trend: Down 1 spot, Overall Change: Regressed 0.9% ) PK: 81.2% (Rank: 14th Trend: Up 3 spots, Overall Change: Improved 1% ) PP: 19.2% (Rank: 15th Trend: No change, Overall Change: Regressed 1% ) FO: 52.3% (Rank: 5th Trend: No change, Overall Change: Regressed 0.2% ) Pt%: 0.603 (Rank: 12th Trend: Up 3 spots, Overall Change: Improved 2% ) Edit: I noticed that one of the stats changed over night. Stats have been updated to reflect the change.

In this thread I'll be keeping track of the team stats for the Red Wings after each game played. Here are the stats I posted last night after the win against the Ducks: Here are the new stats for the Wings after all Saturday games have been played: (Note that the "trend" portion indicates the relative change in this stat in question since the last Wings game) Red Wings Team Stats (after 32 games played): GA/G: 2.62 (Rank: 8th Trend: Up 2 spots) G/G: 2.69 (Rank: 19th Trend: No change) 5-5 F/A: 0.88 (Rank: 22nd Trend: Up 2 spots) SA/G: 27.9 (Rank: 6th (tied) Trend: No change) S/G: 34.0 (Rank: 2nd Trend: Down 1 spot) PK: 79.8% (Rank: 17th Trend: Up 1 spot) PP: 20.0% (Rank: 13th Trend: Down 3 spots) FO: 51.9% (Rank: 6th Trend: Down 1 spot) Pt%: 0.578 (Rank: 16th Trend: we'll see after next game ) Edit: added point %

Jimmy Howard stats update: GAA: 2.27 (Rank: 8th) SV%: 0.920 (Rank: Tied for 11th with Brodeur) Wins: 11 (Rank: 15th*) SO: 1 (Rank: Tied for 18th) Win%: 0647 (Rank: 8th**) *This is a deceptive number since he gets significantly fewer starts than most of the people above him. For example, only 4 of the 14 guys above him have had fewer than 10 more starts and only 1 goalie has started less games than Howard but has more wins. **I calculated this stat myself using a spreadsheet. It's just the number of wins divided by the number of games started. I only calculated this for the top 30 goalies ranked by number of wins. I'm really impressed that Howard's GAA and SV% are 8th and 11th place respectively. That means he averages out as a top 10 goalie in the league right now (at least in terms of stats).

Unfortunately I don't have access to those stats. They definitely aren't on the NHL.com site. I know they do exist because Bruce MacLeod has did the statistical analysis of individual players on the PK earlier in the year.

I just wanted to note that I don't think Miller has the scoring upside that Cleary had coming into Detroit. A guy like Eaves better suits that comparison. Miller's scoring upside is similar to a guy like Malty or Draper's.
-
Yeah he's been a pleasant surprise. His stats would average out to a 14g 10a 24pt season over a full 82 games, which is excellent for a 4th liner. Here are some more key stats: Hits: 36 in 17 games (avg ~2 per game) <-- Only Helm, Eaves and Abdelkader have a better average among forwards Blocks: 6 in 17 games (should be averaging more. I'd like to see at least 1 per game, although no one else on the team averages 1 block per game, so maybe that's unrealistic)

I still think Wayne's signature helmet is goofy as hell.

Friday: Ottawa @ New Jersey Toronto @ Buffalo Carolina @ Florida Tampa Bay @ St Louis Boston @ Chicago Washington @ Vancouver Saturday: NY Rangers @ Philadelphia Detroit @ Dallas Phoenix @ Anaheim Nashville @ Calgary Pittsburgh @ Buffalo Boston @ Toronto Minnesota @ Ottawa Montreal @ NY Islanders Florida @ Carolina New Jersey @ Atlanta Columbus @ Colorado Washington @ Edmonton Sunday: Detroit @ Chicago St Louis @ Vancouver

True. Although, for the record: not all of us could hit the ball in little league. Edit: Let's be honest-- I actually sucked so hard in T-ball that I never made it to little league.
-
We all know he'd doubled shift Helm, though.
-
Well at least you're confident in yourself.

There are so many places I can go with this... so many jokes... brain... hurts... too many possibilities...

Bettman confirms wanting two winter classics next year

They're going to dilute it until it's no longer a cool, rare event. -
I lol'd.

Abdelkader will be back in GR so he can play 20+ mins a night and play a scorer's role again. As for the trade(s) I'm hoping we've seen the last of a guy who's name rhymes with Pebda.

Great to hear that Franzen's skating (no matter how limited it is). Also great to hear that Kronwall and Filppula are closer. Can't wait to have anyone back.

Per TSN.ca: Ummmm Halak for a 2nd rounder? HELL YEAH! Halak looks better than Price... hell, he's outplayed Halak at every single turn. I love Ozzy and Howard but Halak is a budding star. I hate the idea of losing Howard but Halak would be awesome insurance in case Howie doesn't pan out. I'm glad I'm not the GM. This would be a really tough call for me. If Howard was still struggling this deal would already be done, in my opinion at least. Now Howie's looked great and it'd be really tough to justify selling him down the river for a kid who's only a year younger. What if Ozzy plans on retiring? I wish the Wings could convince the Habs to save Halak for this summer

Could Some Westen Teams Who Make The Playoffs = Advantage Wings?
Drake_Marcus replied to rage's topic in General
If they made the 2nd round you could say that, though.
